Saturnine’ and ‘Arcane’ are the words to describe the current release
“Ursprung” (origin) from Allgrena. This project of Franz Nigl from
Austria creates a dark and apocalyptic atmosphere by means of spherical
sounds and meaphorical lyrics, sounding approximately as if
‘Allerseelen’ meets ‘Endraum’. Songs like “Öffne deinen Geist” (open
your spirit), “Ursprung” (origin) or “Ein eiskalter Hauch” (an ice-cold
breath) are best examples for the artists self-reflection, that make
this album especially interesting. A minimalistic monotone sound-garment
with repeating recitative questions about the meaning of life and at the
same time yet another attempt to answer this last of all questions in an
expressive artistic manner. Furthermore in “Wachsende Ringe” (growing
rings) and “Die Letzten Zierate” (the last ornaments) Allgrena uses
words from Rilke which fit perfectly in the musical concept of the
album. “Ursprung” (origin) is one of the most interesting releases of
the last time.
