Katharine pilots us thru a melodic trek across the vibrant constellations.

Jumping from star to star consumes a lot of time. There is always parts that can be double or triple checked on a spaceship to make sure things are in their optimal working condition. Preventative maintenance can help make one more confident that issues will not happen. Still, something can go wrong with anomalies in space. Just recently, the ships communication system has been in and out of commission. Finding a place to land so the low-gain antennas can be worked on wasn't hard. Once landed, the power subsystem was turned down and then set to offline. The landscape immediately reverted itself to a very old but familiar place. Cat is hissing at the T-Rex off in the distance.

Katharine is here to make things more enjoyable while things get reset. The hypnotic beats can certainly lift your spirits. The bleeps and buzzes definitely get your attention. Other times, the melodies make you smile and sway. There are times when it sounds like someone is working in a docking bay with tools. The combination of them being blended, excites all the senses. Thankfully, she is playing analog with vinyl since everything is off network currently...

Florida based Phasen returns to UM Records after a hugely impressive remix of Greenfish in 2014. The EP reprises several releases that featured on the now defunct 5 and Dime Recordings along with a brand new rework of the title track Digital Block. The EP sees the long awaited return of Karol XVII & MB Valence and the highly rated Loz Goddard (Large Music, Open Bar) making his first appearance on the label. The EP opens with Digital Block (Phasen 2015 Remix) and a sound that perfectly reflects Phasen’s characteristic slant on electronic deepness. Throbbing and techy, weaving and wandering in glorious style. The Karol XVII & MB Valence Loco Remix of Off The Cuff, by Phasen and sometime production partner Refurb is a pure dancefloor tune that’s brimming with energy and menace - a must for the darker moments of sets. Loz Goddard’s remix is another club orientated track, with chunky jungle beats and drifting chords - watch out for the break down it’ll ignite the room when it drops back in. Finally comes the original Digital Block. A dreamy deep house affair that brings the night to a calmer close.

“I grew up and live in Florida where I operate a small organic farm. I love all kinds of music - jazz, funk, reggae, psychedelic rock, and of course electronica. For over 20 years I've been making music using synths, drum machines, and computers, first more downtempo lounge music and more recently deep house music with a dubby feel. When a good house track has a perfect groove with the right amount of swing or bounce...that is magic to my ears. I prefer thick, hard hitting drum sounds and spacious synth work, and I am attracted to tracks that blend a perfect groove with impeccable mixdown work and production.
