It’s 7 p.m. Friday night, mid-October, and Halloween festivities are just starting to roll in. Outside, it’s drizzling—cold winds brushing against my clothes, the kind of weather that make me want to wear layers. bundled up with my furry babies for a cozy night in. But i got tickets for an early drag king show, and i already bailed on my friends last time. Plus after a full week of doing the most as an overachieving people pleasing perfectionist, my body is craving to let loose.

I slide into a cute, casual outfit—nothing too fancy, because lezbireal, i plan to be back home, skin care routine done, and in bed by 11 p.m. I meet up with my friends, and the moment i see them, i know it’s time to wiggle, groove, and release some pent-up energy.

Ropatt (aka Ron Patton) is a dynamic pop, jazz, and hip-hop artist who first made waves with his 2003 album Biggie Was Here. Hailing from Michigan, Ron dove into songwriting during college and became a staff writer for the legendary Holland-Dozier-Holland team.
