Drum and bass music in Andalusia has never stopped orbiting, and in recent years, a multitude of incredible and talented producers have emerged on the scene to prove it.
We humbly try to accommodate many of them, and one of our favorite artists, whom we admire and love, is G.P.M. Originally from Malaga, he returns to South Yard presenting his second E.P, South Side, which refers to all this fervor that is brewing in southern Spain when we talk about Drum and Bass.

G.P.M presents his second E.P, South Side, a work that reflects the evolution, maturity, and authenticity of the artist, both externally with this sound design, drums, and bass, and internally with deeper maturity. G.P.M has created four amazing tracks that represent him completely; two darker and two more cheerful and carefree, as he is: Genuine and Andalusian.

On February 28th in Spain, Andalusia Day is celebrated, and we couldn’t have a better gift and representation than this work.

Past Reflections finds the elusive balance between melancholy and energy.

“My goal over these years was to capture this duality, and I believe these tunes do just that.”

Influenced by the deep, melodic sounds of late 2000s and early 2010s artists like Ill Logic & Raf, Mutt, dBridge, and Marcus Intalex, this project is meant to resonate both in at home listening and on the dance floor.

Jovenes helps youth, ages 18-25, end their cycle of homelessness. Located in Boyle Heights and serving communities throughout Southeast LA County, they work deeply with youth focusing on not only their needs for housing, but also healthcare, education, employment and trauma recovery.

Clusion 'Potion Candy' [Five Alley]

In episode 4 I sit down with someone hugely inspiring in so many ways: Sweetpea!

A DJ, producer, radio presenter, interviewer, and an EQ50 sister.. Sweetpea experiences the drum and bass scene from many different sides. 

This conversation is full of things, that primarily, I think we all know, but we need to be reminded of - myself included. It's refreshing to hear some of the advice she has for up and comers and the way she's seen dnb evolve, the hope she has in the new generation and some of the things she misses from what she calls her 'golden era'.
 
We touch on important topics such as inclusivity and diversity, social media, mindset, battling quiet periods in your music career and the importance of being fulfilled in your life as a whole.

In the interview, I describe this as 'The chat I wanted to have, but didn't realise how much I needed'. I stand by this statement.

Apollo Navigation makes a stellar EP debut on Heavy Sonics Records with the "Not Regular EP".

Apollo Navigation, the DJ and Producer maestro hailing from Hemel Hempstead, makes a stellar EP debut on Heavy Sonics Records with the "Not Regular EP". This four-track masterpiece is a testament to Apollo's exceptional talent and versatile production skills. One of the highlights of EP is the collaboration with longtime friend and fellow Heavy Sonics favourite DJ and Producer, Bleephead. 

The EP kicks off with "Tarnished", with its high-octane energy and signature Apollo Navigation flair. True to form, Apollo delivers yet another bass-heavy masterpiece, showing his versatility for different sounds both interesting and engaging.

Following the electrifying opener, comes the collaboration between Apollo Navigation and Bleephead. This funky track is the perfect combination of styles and seamlessly blending their unique sounds Apollo Navigation and Bleephead deliver a groovy number that is bound to get bodies moving on the dancefloor.

The third track on the EP is the title track, "Not Regular". Listeners are plunged into a world of frenetic rhythms and electrifying energy. The track's unconventional vocal samples paired with a pulsating bassline and infectious drum patterns immediately captivate the audience, setting the tone for what promises to be an exhilarating journey.

Rounding off the EP in style, "Wub Generator" takes the EP to even greater heights with its explosive energy. This track is a powerhouse of sound, featuring a twisted and heavy bassline that undoubtedly sets dancefloors on fire. Apollo's expert production skills shine through yet again as he delivers a relentless onslaught of beats and bass.

The "Not Regular EP" is a tour de force of Drum & Bass music, showcasing Apollo Navigation's exceptional talent and versatility as a producer. From the frenetic energy of "Not Regular" to the funky vibes of the collaborative track with Bleephead, each track on the EP is a testament to Apollo's dedication to pushing the boundaries of D&B music. The four tracks showcase his ability to craft intricate soundscapes that transport listeners to the depths of the dancefloor.

With this stellar debut EP, Apollo Navigation has firmly established himself as an artist to watch in the ever-evolving world of Drum & Bass, solidifying his place as one of the most exciting talents to emerge in the scene. We can't wait to hear more from Ashley, and also Bleephead a.k.a Conor, who we hope to welcome to Heavy Sonics soon for a solo release.
