They’re now Java’s last big cat - their Javan tiger cousins are already extinct - and are ‘critically endangered’, with less than 525 individuals estimated to be left in the wild. Expansion of human settlements has devastated the leopards’ habitat. With a lack of prey, the leopards stray into agricultural and residential areas searching for food and attack pets and livestock. People trap and kill them, and even one dead leopard is enough to threaten the species’ survival. These beautiful forest spirits need protection, so we’ll donate all proceeds from the release to Panthera.org.
