Chicago House pioneers VIRGO FOUR (Trax Records/ Rush Hour Recordings) are one of the only LIVE acts from the second generation of Chicago house artists.

Back in the day the duo of Eric Lewis and Merwyn Sanders were the true pioneers of deep house and their 1989 LP on Trax Records still stands up as one of the best in the genre.Chicago born-and-bred musicians who, like many, became wrapped up in the burgeoning house scene of their city in the mid-80s. They were both regulars on the infamous Chicago high school party scene, where packed school halls were filled with the sounds of local DJs such as the Hot Mix Five. From the school on to the club, they frequented Ron Hardy’s Muzic Box and started producing music themselves. At some point a friend recommended they visit Larry Sherman, co-owner of Trax Records, and from then on it took a few visits and a discerning dog, but they eventually released their first – and seminal – single Do You Know Who You Are? on Trax in 1989. Under Virgo Four and their aliases M.E. and Ace & Sandman the pair released more music over the next few years, but after a while took up other professions.Over 20 years later Amsterdam’s Rush Hour crew released the seminal re-issue compilation Resurrection, unearthing no less than 30 original Virgo Four tracks, getting the pair the attention they deserve. Virgo Four’s cuts on Rush Hour reconquered the house heads in the exact same way, notably with the Caribou remix of their It’s A Crime track. Now, Eric and new recruit Terry Ivy are continuing the legacy without missing a step.

Founded by DJ and producer Discrete Circuit in 2012, AWAY was born in Berlin out of a purist desire to establish a party for timeless house and techno music. In the early days, AWAY moved from multiple in- and outdoor venues to showcases across Europe to ultimately finding a stable home base at the About Blank club in 2015. Quickly they earned a reputation as a must-attend event series without losing its underground credibility.

energy!Influenced by his wor k at Essens Recordstore n°1, “Important Records”,
he evolved a certain feeling for minimal techno and of course for retailing
records worldwide.
Deeply minted by the early “Sound of Cologne”, the inducement to produce
music himself was rising constantly.
Experimenting with sounds and lyrics since 1997 lead to the first productions in 2001.
He released Tracks on Mupa, Catenaccio and Nummer.
Upcoming Releases will appear on Dumb Unit, Stock5 and Brouqade.

Our most beloved pieces of music are usually more than just the sum of beats, chords and notes: they also reflect on a period in the life of its producer. In addition to the musical experience each work also contains current life situations, memories and future expectations, some included intentionally, some unconsciously. 

Somehow it doesn't seem appropriate to put these SLICES OF LIFE only onto a hard drive amongst hundreds and thousands of imageless files, fearing that the next crash will delete and destroy everything. This is why instead of watching a list of track titles on a screen there are still so many music lovers who prefer to hold the result of all these hours of work and musical commitment in their hands as timeless documents printed onto vinyl. 

Therefore  Slices Of Life is featuring vinyl as preferred media for deep, warm sounding, funky and diverse club music.
