On July 1st, i was invited to play a Jungle/drum & bass set for Beatport in the Wave XR's Metaverse. This was an incredible experience to put on a motion capture suit and see my avatar dancing and DJIng in real time in an incredible alternate universe! I even got to become a jungle demon and knock down a wall of cat -names from the chat. Anyway, they declined to allow me to ever repost the set, so I've recreated it here for the latest installment of No Speed Limit. This is the first Shambhala mix I have ever done after all the years I have played this amazing Festival. Every time I have performed I've come away with countless memories & great moments. This year was exceptional, with DJ Premier, Jazzy Jeff, Skratch Bastid, The Gaff, Chali 2na & Cut Chemist, A.Skillz, Slynk, Fort Knox 5, Q Dup on a Saturday night. I have created the mix exactly how it was performed as  it was not recorded live. Big thanks to Rich E Rich for having me once again, I truly had the most incredible weekend. I hope you guys enjoy this mix as much as I had performing it !

I decided to stop uploading mixes but I kept performing live sets during this last 2 months, and this one received a lot of nice feedback so I decided to finally upload it. I really wanted so bad to mix Soulful live and share it with people, that's why this mix is very special to me and I tried to do a selection of old and new tunes. I also tried to apply technical mixing skills that are more commonly used in Neurofunk and Dancefloor mixes into Soulful, since they are a little more aggressive than progressive and maintaining doing double drops even in this particular subgenre. I feel I'm fixing a lot of mistakes lately in my performances.

Soulful is not a so known subgenre in the D&B scene as others but I find it absolutely amazing and beautiful, as I always say Liquid Funk and Dancefloor are my daily basis, but Soulful is my once in a lifetime.

FOUR MEN - ONE MISSION

It happened during the summer of 2000. North America’s most prominent drum and bass DJs joined forces to create the legendary crew known as PLANET OF THE DRUMS. Using their combined muscle to push drum and bass music into the spotlight of the main stage they toured tirelessly for well over a decade, fronted by the vocal rhyme animal known as Messinian. Their incessant drive and motivation helped set the groundwork of the scene that exists today.

Feeling their work completed, the team turned their focus to personal projects and the PLANET OF THE DRUMS program was retired. But as was soon discovered, the drum and bass scene in North America began a slow freefall into underground obscurity.

This could not stand.

Reuniting in 2017, the PLANET OF THE DRUMS crew returned to continue their original mission - celebrating, honoring and advancing drum and bass music. “AWAKENING” represents a retrospective of some of their favorite sounds, highlights and moments from the past year. What always made POTD special was the compelling combination of the boys’ varied styles - AK and his raw motherfucking breakbeats. Dara’s rolling dancefloor vibes. Dieselboy with the heavy cinematic pressure. Three hundred and sixty degrees of futuristic drum and bass business.
