"I Just Can't Live Without You" (Instrumental)

First of all, I would like to wish a happy springtime to all of my fantastic friends here on SoundCloud!  

Without further ado, here is the full instrumental version of a short demo song I made on September 5, 2024. Originally this tune came to me when thinking about the chords and progressions in my earlier song "Peace".

This song was made, played and recorded by me as MIDI and with e.g. the following instruments and sounds: Yamaha Montage 8 (TX816 Electric Piano), Spectrasonics Keyscape (Roland MKS-20 EP sound), Arturia Jup-8 V (Horns), Arturia Synthx V, UVI Ultramini & Arturia Mini-V (Minimoog bass sound), Arturia JUN-6V (the "55 Pop Corn" sound, cf. Juno-6 Synthesizer), Native Instruments Session Guitarist - Electric Mint; and other sounds from the UVI SonicPass VST library including UVI PX Memories (cf. Memorymoog mod), UV-XXX (from the UVI "OB Legacy", horns & the brass sound), UVX-10P (cf. Roland JX-10, the flute sound) and Marcato Strings (from UVI Emulation II). The drums come from Native Instruments Abbey Roads 1980s Drummer, layered with the fantastic Simmons SDS 5 style kick & snare drums from UVI Beatbox Anthology 2.  

Recorded, edited and mixed in Cubase Pro 14, with some significant help from iZotope Neutron. Mastered in Cubase Pro with Ozone 11.


I'm certainly not a lyricist but I got some help with the lyrics! And the idea was that the lyrics would go something like this:

This track is the lead track from my 8th Ep CHEMICAL. 123 BPM. 3m40s. The genres are Big beat / Electronic rock / Breakbeat. The most relevant genre is Big beat. The moods are Energetic / Intense / Aggressive. The style is Beat music. Everything by myself. Heavily influenced by 90s UK Dance music. The similar artists are The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. The intense and aggressive chorus part is a highlight (The impressive sound effects in the chorus part are made from my voice). The beat and Lo-fi Hip hop piano are also unique features of this track. This is energetic and aggressive, so this is for rock audiences, suitable for outdoor and loud. CHEMICAL Link in Bio!

Well hello. Here’s some rustic Mountain Blues, played on extremely oxidized guitar strings, with me hollering from the mountain top. Hahahaha. The song hints at a personal authenticity, and the experience of possibly unraveling any prior conditioning (Pavlovian or otherwise) that may constrict our lives in some way. It’s also about the different personas we portray to the outside world. How we may act at work, or on a first date, or with our spouse, or kids, friends, enemies, those who hurt us, even our stage personas comes into play…. So this song is asking a lot of us. In other news, right now in June, the mountains are snow covered and it froze last night. That is late spring, early summer here. Gardenwise, this year, I am planting a lot more Brassicas: Kale, Cabbage and Broccoli, and they are growing well. I am going to try to fence off the carrot/beet beds, as the voles always eat more carrots and beets than I ever do. Onions, leeks and garlic have been growing since March. I transplanted 50 lettuce plants I grew from seed that I saved from last year’s lettuce. The berry bushes and fruit trees have really blossomed this year. There are squash, cukes, tomato and pepper plants inside by the window, to be transplanted outside next week, quite a mess… all of which keeps me busy…. Hahaha. During the first few months of last year, I was ill with my recurring kidney stone problems.

Fortunately, that passed.

I left some of the compositions I started unfinished, and some sketches were barely started.

This is one of them.

My mother lives in a typical Andalusian house in Seville.

One of the characteristics of these houses is that they usually have a courtyard where there are all kinds of flowering and non-flowering plants.

Obviously, they need to be cared for, watered, fertilized, etc.
My mother loves doing it, and in spring she reaps the rewards of her labor.

I always give my flower icons to the women I follow (I hope I'm not annoying them by doing that), so I thought it was interesting to draw inspiration from all of that to put this together.

I work in different styles, as the inspiration, dreams or bubonic plagiarism comes! I use Logic Pro X on Mac.
 
I write, produce and play all my own stuff (unless otherwise stated), play vintage Tokai Strats mainly, PRS Torero, Steinberger, Gretsch G2627T, Classical, Fender Dreadnought, Yamaha and Rickenbacker basses, keyboards and sax. I use Native Instrument's Komplete, Omnisphere 2 and my own organic samples.

I mix on Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's and HD 650's (closed and open headphones) when not making a bigger noise through my Yamaha HS8 studio monitors. I use Focusrite Clarett 2Pre ThunderBolt and Apogee audio interfaces, Neumann & iSK condenser & AKG dynamic mics. 

Hardware: Feb 1978 Marshall JMP 50W Combo, BOO & BOSS stomps

I love collaborating with other musicians and will compose with, play guitar for, produce, arrange, master or even just hum along with other SC musicians. Please ask!
