Handle My Moods

"Waves of Love"

I played at the piano again and again with the keyboard ...
Then, after a long time (3 months) I had this tune finished and arranged ...
I was glad when the piano melody to "Waves of Love" was finally finished  ...
Now I could start playing the strings ....
After listening to the song several times, I started to feel the melodies and I played the flutes, repeating until I was satisfied with the result.
After the flutes, the other instruments were added to the piano melody. These included the violins and the cello ...
It was a great pleasure for me to send it to Colin.

Waves of Love - Oliver Papke and Colin Powell

When Oliver first sent me his version of Waves of Love, he said he wanted it to become an EPIC New Age track, with lots of power. I added several harmony parts that add to the melody and then a bass guitar that comes in later to give some more bottom end.
Then, of course, there are those epic drums that Eva and Oliver (and me!) are so fond of! Plus cymbal crashes for extra epic-ness.
So, Oliver got his wish! A New Age Epic, which was also an epic to mix (26 tracks on my iPad!). But it was great fun to add to, mix and master this wonderful piece of music. We hope you like it too.

It's always amazing what you can come up with ...
This track only motivates us to go further with the music and create more musical compositions.

It is with a heavy heart I release this song today. I usually don't put things besides what I have been doing in the alternative rap/hiphop vein of sounds. However, I just wanted to share this because of a recent event. Thought it might be cathartic to release this into the world. 

I had a terrible misunderstandings with one of my best friends who I've been friends with for a really long time. All of a sudden she decided to completely cut me out of her life.  

I'll be the first to tell anybody that I am far from a perfect human being and that I make mistakes, but this was so uncalled for I was left in a horribly sad and shocked state.. Complete disbelief in what had just happened. 

No need for gruesome details.. But this is my Goodbye letter to an amazing human and friend who I care about incredibly deeply, and always will

In Limbo Dance

To get a realistic idea of an orchestra you should play al the different parts of instruments, certainly not copying or quantize them. So I took 8 different violons 1, 10 violins 2, 8 viola's, 8 celli, 8 basses and three flutes, one alt flute, french horn, bassoon, tuba, harp and played all the different parts. I positioned the sections with altiverb. All strings are from Audio Modelling VST, played with breath control TEC. I arranged this beautiful song of Gershwin. Listen with headphone or hi-fi for the best results.

I work in different styles, as the inspiration, dreams or bubonic plagiarism comes! I use Logic Pro X on Mac.
 
I write, produce and play all my own stuff (unless otherwise stated), play vintage Tokai Strats mainly, PRS Torero, Steinberger, Gretsch G2627T, Classical, Fender Dreadnought, Yamaha and Rickenbacker basses, keyboards and sax. I use Native Instrument's Komplete, Omnisphere 2 and my own organic samples.

I mix on Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's and HD 650's (closed and open headphones) when not making a bigger noise through my Yamaha HS8 studio monitors. I use Focusrite Clarett 2Pre ThunderBolt and Apogee audio interfaces, Neumann & iSK condenser & AKG dynamic mics. 

Hardware: Feb 1978 Marshall JMP 50W Combo, BOO & BOSS stomps

I love collaborating with other musicians and will compose with, play guitar for, produce, arrange, master or even just hum along with other SC musicians. Please ask!
