Maybe it was just a matter of time until the laws of universal mathematics and passion united these two exceptional artists: 
Mr. House Music – Phil Fuldner – and the man they call the Frank Sinatra of electronica – Louie Austen! This meeting of the minds

For Phil Fuldner, “Hoping” is a strong rival to his hit singles “Fever Clip” and “Take Me”, which was one of the most shazamed titles 
in the UK in the summer of 2019 and on rotation on BBC Radio 1 alongside tracks by Avicii and Peggy Gou. “Take Me” was heavily 
supported by the likes of Diplo, Claptone, Purple Disco Machine, Disclosure or Annie Mac and has been streamed more than 
10 million times all-over worldwide. On the live side of things, Phil Fuldner’s appearances at party brand du jour Glitterbox cemented 
his standing on the international house music scene.

Louie Austen is a unique kind of nightclub crooner, the living tie between the Las Vegas rat pack and electronic music escapades. 
His appearance on Viennese cult label Cheap Records with the original version of “Hoping” made him an instant jazz-electronica 
legend. He has collaborated with celebrated artists like Phonique or Joyce Muniz, been remixed by iconoclastic producers like 
Matthew Herbert, and embodies a perfect meeting point of classic music entertainment in the vein of Frank Sinatra with cutting-edge 
electronic rhythms, contrasted by his unmistakable, velvety voice.

Michael Vater, better known in music circles as Phonique, has carved out a rich niche for himself in the crowded world of electronic music. Widely regarded as one of the nicest guys in the scene, Vater has come a long way from his humble beginnings in Cologne, fully establishing himself as both a father of the Berlin club scene and a much loved ambassador for house and electronic music all around the world. With way over 100 releases and his own boutique house label Ladies & Gentlemen, Phonique has taken his signature grooves all over the world - more than 50 countries at last count. 

With countless production and remix credits plus three full albums under his belt, 'Saudade (Best Of Phonique)' is a timely reminder of what makes this artist such a treasure. With so much material to get through it's a wonder he managed to keep it to 11 tracks. 

Long time collaborator Erlend Øye features twice as a guest vocalist - 'For the Time Being' and 'Casualties' both being essential reference points in Phonique's back catalogue. Originally released in 2005, 'For the Time Being' could be the blueprint for many of today's nu-disco producers, while Antonio Eudi and Bruno Be's Remix of 'Casualties' shares a similar, lush and rolling groove - both are classic Vater - melancholic and uplifting at the same time. 

Another landmark collaboration in Vater's discography was with Ian Whitelaw, whose sublime vocals feature on 'Our Time Our Chance' and 'You That I'm With'. Originally released on Phonique's first album 'Identification' in 2004, 'You That I'm With' is a gorgeous slice of electronic synth pop, while 'Our Time Our Chance' from 2010 is more focused on the deeper reaches of the dance floor, and was widely regarded as one of the tracks of that year. 

Elsewhere on 'Saudade', (Portuguese for a brooding kind of melancholy, and a suitable description of Vater’s signature sound), Phonique continues to display his passion for collaboration with talented vocalists. 'One Step 2010' and 'Feel What You Want' highlight the divine sound of Rebecca while 'Endless Love' showcases Louie Austen - whose 'Glamour Girl' is also included via Phonique's Original Version. His deft touch for creating affecting and beautiful electronic pop music with strong links to the dance floor is fully in evidence on every track, and non more so than his rework of 'Ornette's Crazy' - a huge hit in 2012 on Get Physical that still sounds as thrilling today as it did the day of release. 

Probably the most straight up dance floor track here is 'Divertimento' - a deep burner with slight Latin swing to it - no doubt a result of Phonique's strong links to the underground scene in Brazil.

One of Australia’s finest musical exports, Dr Packer returns to Glitterbox for ‘Different Strokes Volume 2’ after the incredible first edition of the series. This first sampler highlights three stellar cuts from the forthcoming LP, showcasing Dr Packer’s expert abilities to produce soulful versions of house and disco essentials. The sampler opens with his remix of Aeroplane’s 2017 ‘Love On Hold’ featuring Tawatha Agee, stripping back the contemporary nu-disco classic, soft chimes and a lilting beat transform the track, while maintaining its irresistible dancefloor capabilities. Up next, Dr Packer turns his hand at an essential from the Defected catalogue, ATFC’s 2001 hit ‘Sleep Talk’ featuring the inimitable vocals of Lisa Millett. Maintaining the vintage flavours of the original, Dr Packer lends his signature disco-tinged flare to the house classic. Finally, Dr Packer’s remix of Eminence’s ‘Give It Up’ featuring Kathy Brown rounds of the release, as cinematic strings and glorious horns give the release a healthy dose of dancefloor drama, destined for Glitterbox dancefloors. If this sampler is anything to go by, ‘Dr Packer's Different Strokes Volume 2’ is set to be a stunning album from one of disco’s brightest stars.
