I started making this song on one of my weekly youtube live streams, and after 2 sessions, I felt really inspired to work more on it. I spent most of my free time the following week finishing the song!
During the 2nd live stream, I started talking about what I imagined this song was about, and a scenario from my real life. CornetTheory, who was watching this stream, sent me audio files of him reenacting my scenario lol. I added these lines to the song just for fun, and also ended up keeping some of them for the final version.

Verse's hometown. This nameless village on Qaimusu Island in Kerlynzia is the only place Verse feels is as beat down as she is. No one here seems to remember her -- or at least, they're all pretending they don't. Most of the homes are abandoned after the riot. To her recollection, it must have been about 10 years ago now... Oddly, it seems like a lot more time has passed than should have. Everything's far more run-down and overgrown than it should be.  Most of the children she grew up with have families now -- at least those that didn't move away and leave the decaying island behind.
Normally, for less populated places like this, I do quieter songs, but in the case of Qaimusu village, I felt the emotional state of the character warranted a bit more 'oomph'.
Still in the process of moving. No idea when life's going to be back to normal. ; I'll post and communicate whenever possible!
