I was asked to choose an Artist/DJ for a tribute mix for a series of podcasts, with all tracks having to be made or remixed by that Artist/DJ.  I chose my favourite DJ, Danny Howells.

Danny Howells - Everything's here (Deetron Remix)

The first installation of a series of techno centered mixes inspired by Berlin for your listening pleasure.  After a year in Germany I finally managed to put together a mix that gradually and energetically moves you into the harder side of techno with hints of my love for jazz and soul sprinkled amidst classic and driving techno.  I thought it best to revisit where I first was inspired by techno, "the warehouse", so there is a theme of a warehouse vibe driving much of the energy on this mix.  The recording was made live and on the fly - no edits, just emotion.  Enjoy and don't be afraid to leave me some comments/feedback so I can improve ;)

 Danny Howells, Darren Emerson & Dave Seaman’s 3D Project is back on Selador with 3 more original productions from the intrepid trio. When three high ranking Acid House Generals world’s collide, the results were bound to produce something special and so it’s proved. Coming straight off the back of a highly successful tour of South America and a string of European Festival dates, the legendary threesome pick up where they left off on their debut EP earlier this year with another high calibre release. 

This time Dave paves the way with ‘Rodales’, a huge weapon in his sets over the last few months, it’s all about the prolonged teasing build, bass drop payoff and distorted melodies. All good things come to those who wait! 
Then Darren steps up with the wonderfully titled ‘BUB’, a multi-faceted mystical beast straight out of the leftfield. Balearic Techno anyone? And finally, Danny drops a banger in the form of ‘Violencia’, an acid tinged, peak time roller that’ll singe your eyebrows if you stand too close. Hot! 

In a way, the EP neatly encapsulates the 3D project as a whole. Individually, each is a winner in it’s own right but collectively, it’s greater than the sum of its parts. Three is the magic number.

The 3D DJs return with a spring in their step all ready to complete their trilogy of EPs for Selador and arguably, they may have saved the best ‘til last.

With Darren, Dave & Danny now firmly ensconced in the studio together working on a collaborative album project, this EP signals the final piece in the trio’s original concept of releases where each contributes an individual track.

Danny opens proceedings this time with ‘Shortwave’, an ever present in his sets over the last year that finally gets to see the light of day. Listeners with a keen ear may recognise this as the track the 3Ders opened their Mixmag Lab session with in LA last year. A delicious slice of uplifting Howells house.

Darren is next up with ‘Sleeping Bag’, a paean to the legendary NYC imprint that combines a sublime house groove and a seductive arpeggio with spellbinding results. Proper classy business straight outta Billericay.

And last but by no means least, Dave weighs in ‘Press 1 For Human’, a veritable banger loaded with off kilter synth sirens and a bass line so muscular that we demand a dope test. Innocent until proven guilty though and be warned, we have very expensive lawyers!
