Formed in early 2014, 138 is the collaborative project between best friends Billy Garcia & Nathan Valle. The two 22 year old Los Angeles natives began the project shortly before launching their new label TXTRL, on which they have released their debut single “DECONSTRUCT.”

Here at DSNT, we've been fans of the 138 lads for a while now. We have a pretty similar outlook with regards to music and it's nice to be able to hook up with the guys from across the pond. They're definitely one to watch over the coming months and this hybrid set with drum machine, acid and decks should prove just why!

Kessell is the alter ego of Valentín Corujo, half of the Exium duo, this is his solo project where he explores the most liquid of his sonic palette. His music has naturally evolved from a hard and minimalist sound to their current style mixing dub, detroit techno, electro, minimal or techno, which has lead to the creation of his label Granulart Recordings, physical/digital label focused on the deepest side of techno with dub influences and classic Detroit sound, designed both to release his own stuff as well as music from artists that fit the philosophy of the label. A label where precision and musicality occur hand in hand with the intention of creating timeless pieces, outside the passage of time, sounds you can enjoy as a delicatessen over the years.

Having cut his teeth on the Belfast circuit, including a lengthy residency at the city's Shine club, Chris has gradually extended his reach across the UK. Though we may be genetically fairly similar to monkeys, there's a nugget of information kicking around R$N Towers that humans are also incredibly similar to bananas. Whether there's any truth in this spurious allegation is yet to be seen, as none of us know how to use Ask Jeeves properly, so we'll have to simply agree that it's a stone cold fact for the time being and move on.

Whichever end of the ape/banana feeding ritual we most closely resemble, we can all agree that there's nothing quite like filling your ears with new music as you swing through the jungle treetops. Sheffield-based house fiend thatmanmonkz is making the kind of music that everyone can swing to and his soulful old school sound makes for a cracking aural treat.

Victor Ruiz has been riding high on the crest of a wave with remixing Luzon - Baguio Track to great acclaim, to appearing on Herblut, Electric Ballroom and Sprout.

D-Nox again is causing a major fuss with his productions (both solo and working with studio partner Beckers) on Suara, Tronic and his own Sprout imprint to name just a few, and the D-Nox & Beckers remix of Quivver riding high in the Beatport techno charts as we speak.

Lets start with ‘Arise'. The beautiful blend of tinkling light arps and big phat bass sounds combine beautifully. Some tracks just come along and cause major devastation, and this is one of those!Press play, listen, and smile!

'Music' (feat. Beckers & Alex Stein) is a solid gem, where the emotive vibes flow lusciously, while the bass wraps you up like a comforting blanket of sound. This is a melodic gem and a half!

Rounding things off nicely, we find 'In Between'. This skippy beat laden moodier affair still oozes melodies and fuses the darker side with the light. Hot stuff!

Israeli producer Yotam Avni is back with a fresh cut of uplifting, inspirational dance-floor music, along the same lines as some of the killer cuts he's produced for the likes of Robsoul, Be As One and Osunlade's Yoruba records imprint. Weaving elements of Detroit techno, jacking Chicago house and deep atmospheres, Yotam Avni's productions - either under his own name or pseudonyms - Avadon and Jersey Real Estate - are guaranteed to keep the midnight oil burning, no matter the crowd. It's with this reputation that Ovum Recordings welcomes the passionate producer to it's ever-swelling ranks.

Yotam's debut for Ovum Recordings is of the same quality and ilk that weve come to expect. The title track's original mix is proud and uptight, bursting in with a clipped but swollen kick drum, fat around the edges and deep in it's descent, before a vocal snippet chimes in through a mesh of bass gradually stomping its way into earshot with a gentle canter before those bass tones become a full on wobble and the driving rhythm to the track is notched up on the break, mixing Yotam's trademark uplifting house with galvanized, toughened techno beats. 

On the remix we welcome the Dutch bastion of techno Mr. Steve Rachmad, who delivers a superb rework under his darker and deeper Sterac alias. Jacking, rolling and pumping, his remix focuses on the filters. Dry flanges, acid stabs and filtered analogue synths sit atop a frenetic hi hat for a bass-less but high impact smasher. 

Closing the EP is the intriguingly titled Bbbooy Skat, that runs with a hypnotic, wavering acid synth lines and muted, clipped kick drums - reminiscent of his live looping techniques when Djing - before igniting into progressively building techno roller, adding elements of percussion atmosphere and melody, never once shifting focus from that hypno-top line. A subdued but effective midnight roller that offers an endless conclusion to another triumphant set from the Ovum Recordings crew.

Fresh from remixing Foreign Guest’s recent single ‘Rek’ for Berlin’s Crossfrontier Audio, London-based producer Rashid Ajami is proud to present his inaugural EP for Noir Music ahead of its release on September 25th. ‘Night Prayer’ ft. JAW - complete with two remixes from Parisian trio dOP - taps into the distinctive, deeply-resonant sound that first saw Ajami catch the attention of influential tastemakers Anjunadeep back in early 2013.

Centred around a deep, peak-time groove, ‘Night Prayer’ first and foremost exhibits Ajami’s flair for writing song-based music. Gentle, percussive layers and short bursts of melody provide the perfect foil for JAW’s hazy, dream-like vocal flow to take centre stage to lucidly mesmeric effect. Beautifully balanced and squarely aimed at the dance floor, it’s abstract, prayer-like composition also means it has legs away from the club too, reinforcing Ajami’s ability to produce records that connect in both different ways and crucially, spaces.

Backed up by a pair of remixes from revered beatmakers dOP - one a deeper, tech-leaning vocal rework and the other a stomping, melody-laced instrumental dub - ‘Night Prayer’ represents some of Rashid Ajami’s best work yet, adding to a growing discography that already includes releases on Anjunadeep, Cajual, Kittball and Armada.
