Clear Eyes is a piece of musical affirmation, a song of encouragement to embrace life in the present, beginning with one's own reflection, while in conversation with the lingering ‘shadows on the shore’. A wider theme emerges in the song's chorus to speak of embracing our natural world while looking into changing landscapes. Environmental themes are ongoing within Phoebe Coco’s music; Clear Eyes has been performed live in a plethora of environments, from climate protests, joining the likes of Massive Attack on the line up on the Extinction Rebellion stage, to stripped back, acapella under the trees to intimate audiences at ‘The Urban Tree Festival’ marking the opening of Phoebe Coco’s musical installation ‘Tree Song Tree Trail’. Natural themes are further reflected in the music video made by award winning director Katya Ganfeld as Phoebe Coco dances deep, enchanted, in the natural landscape. 

Clear Eyes is a new sonic direction for Phoebe Coco, who’s vocals have been likened to Anna Calvi by Radio X’s Sarah Gosling, as she sings the song within into a textural world underpinned by minimalist piano amongst growling bass synths and cello with mellifluous saxophone, flute and electronica involving a host of London's finest musicians. Phoebe Coco’s acapella project has been has been described as ‘haunting and beautiful’ by Robert Macfarlane (BBC 4 Front Row), and includes Phoebe Coco’s family,  her mother and sisters Sophie Wright, Dorothy Wright-Spinks, and Grace Wright-Spinks, who sing the harmonies on the track while Thomas Broda best known for his work with Dana Gavanski plays percussion, and Izz Karpel on saxophone, who plays on the London new jazz scene with emerging bands such as ALULA. 

Clear Eyes has been co-produced by Phoebe Coco and multi-grammy award winning Eduardo De La Paz and mastered by 2022 Mastering Engineer of the year Kevin Tuffy and is the first single in the lead up to Phoebe Coco’s forthcoming EP. 

Phoebe Coco released her debut album ‘My White Horse & I’ in 2020, receiving high critical acclaim and has been played from 6 Music to Radio 2. She is currently studying a music master’s at Goldsmiths university, while continuing her work as a composer scoring for film and live performance. In 2022 she created a musical tree walk titled ‘Tree Song’ across London boroughs, elements of which will feature in the release of the EP as a whole.

Two melody-besotted musicians, from London et Paris.

A sketchbook for some audio explorations. Ambient experiments, minimalist melodies, and filmic soundscapes. Electronics, processed guitar, and analogue synthesis.

London based, welsh born artist and composer Phoebe Coco released her acclaimed debut album in 2020:  ‘My White Horse & I’ - achieving local, national and global radio play from the likes of BBC 6 Music. She was nominated best female artist of the year in the Radio Wigwam awards. Phoebe Coco currently performs and writes songs for the environment, most specifically trees, in a project titled ‘Tree Song’. She currently has a musical ‘Tree Song Tree Trail’ where her songs can be heard - installed across green spaces of London.  Her recent writings and performances with trees have been aired by renowned author Robert Macfarlane on BBC 4 Front Row. In this performance she sang her vocal arrangement of his ‘Charm-against-Harm’: ‘Heartwood’.
