Percussive, groovy and a bit of a joyride (as I always like it). Also finding time to dip into the darker, heavier shades of my taste towards the end before finding the light again. As a longstanding resident at Lux and its downtown predecessor Frágil, and as a producer of timeless house tracks, she’s rightly earned her legendary status in Portuguese dance music. But as April Clare Welsh learns, she’s busier and more energised than she’s ever been. Alongside a  thumping On Cue mix of pure dancefloor energy, she shares her story

Most underground movements in the arts can be boiled down to one key ingredient: friends doing dope shit together. Childhood BFFs Luca Medici and Delbert Perez have been doing just that with INVT (that's "innovate"), a multidisciplinary art project that spans club music and streetwear. Before exploding onto the international stage and playing to massive crowds in Ibiza and Tulum, the Miami natives built a solid community at home through electrifying DJ sets, releases and fashion. They might be globe-trotting artists now, going back-to-back with artists like Skream and playing Panorama Bar, but their raw DIY spirit stays strong.

Their tunes and live hardware shows fuse jungle, techno, East Coast club and dubstep—and lately, tech house and tribal house—with bass-heavy Latin genres like cumbia and guaracha. A reflection of Miami's diverse demographics, their genre cross-pollinations bring together skaters, dancers, artists and various subcultures. Their clothing lines are equally cross-cultural: repurposed vintage items made from screen printing and acid washing, using photos and designs that represent their home city's vibrant street culture. True to their grassroots ethos, everything's done in-house, from mixing and mastering tracks to embroidery.

The next-gen duo's ultra-rhythmic productions, characterised by deep, swinging drums and trippy textures, is delivered to the world at a rapid-fire pace, testament to Medici and Perez's seemingly insatiable hunger. Their explosive career has helped bring fresh shine to Miami talents who feature heavily in their sets, including this RA Podcast. Featuring DJ Babatr, Coffintexts and plenty of their own unreleased heaters, INVT's mix represents their friendships, community and Miami's thrilling melting pot of dance music that they're still a core part of even as they move across the globe.

We are straight outta the bank holiday here at Phonica and right back into business with another killer mix in our Phonica series from one of our all time favorites of late; Spotlight Records and Panorama Bar regular Chris Cruse.

Chris has been a predominant figure in the queer dance scenes in America and in Europe over many years having represented his mainstay party, now label, Spotlight from L.A., the Club Toilet Crew from Detroit and now residing in Berlin the last couple of years where he holds down regular slots at the city's major clubbing institution Berghain / Panorama Bar (most notably the party Snax which takes place there). Chris has dug deep  and worked hard with these residencies to showcase the queer roots of house, techno, disco, and other forms of dance music.

In April of 2024, RomainFX ventured to Australia from the other side of the world to lay down a 3 hour Love Action masterclass with none other than Donald's House. 

One year prior I requested a Donald's House song up the front of Panorama Bar during Romain FX's closing set. Through the power of Love Action, these two where able to come together on Australian shores to show 400 people what Love Action meant to them - a borderless cosmos where humans dance together to the rythm of any melody.

To celebrate we welcome a very special guest delivering this incredibly seamlessly unique and groovy mix, Milan born, Tokyo based artist Al Jones.

Delivering hot vibes since the very beginning of his career, Al Jones has immediately achieved widespread acclaim from some of the most renowned clubs and parties of his hometown and internationally.

Not only has he made an impact through his own mixes but hes also kept busy cultivating a community in Tokyo, through collective and monthly event named MOVE ムーブ, itinerant party that features art, self-expression and house/electronic music.

We are incredibly pleased to present this polished mix he has kindly put together for us.

Re-Leaf Radio EP020 : Al Jones

Eora-born and London-based DJ Perrinha has been making waves in the city’s nightlife scene since 2018. Known for his work both on the decks and behind the scenes in clubs and bars, he is a regular at Dalston Superstore and a resident of the iconic queer party collective Happy Endings.

Perrinha has played at a variety of parties across Europe, including but not limited to, Adonis, HOMODROP, and Gauche. In 2024, he took his first step into the festival circuit with a performance at Field Maneuvers.

Perrinha’s sound is deeply rooted in 90s house music, with a heavy influence of funky breaks and vocals drawn from early disco and hip-hop.
