Late February will see Syncrophone sub-label Phonogramme release Chasindub’s ‘Still Here’ EP, comprising four original from the Romanian artist.
Dan Gheorge aka Chasindub has been steadily carving his own raw and atmospheric style of house and techno for the past eight years with the Lisière Collectif and alone, releasing on labels such as Mike Grant’s legendary Moods & Grooves, Muted Noise and of course Phonogramme,
sub-label of the Parisian, Syncrophone record label, store and distribution company, where he returns to here for a solo outing.
Up first on the package is title-track ‘Still Here’ an off-kilter slice of ethereal fuelled by soaring pads, rounded low-end drones and crunchy broken percussion, followed by ‘Yellowstrate’ which retains a similarly smooth and atmospheric feel with soft, airy pads fluttering around bumpy breaks, vocal stutters and hooky synth blips.
‘She Is’ opens the flip side and lays focus on swirling dub echoes, electro tinged bass leads and rolling drums before ‘Monza’ rounds off the package with an acidic feel, fusing 303 bass tones with bumpy percussion and tension building atmospherics to create a mesmerizing, hypnotic workout.

The surreptitious edits series is back with five anonymous jazzy cuts hailing all the way from Japan. A DJ-friendly, vinyl-only affair (as always), it includes five cuts and a Carl Sagan DJ tool. The first instalment of The Last Welfare Record sold like hotcakes and recently got a repress, so if you haven't got this in demand record you should still be able to find it at some of the usual haunts. Big shoes are needed to filled if the second segment is to live up to its predecessor's success but we're confident you won't be found wanting.

Our premiere today is the A2 from the record. 'Walkin & Stalkin', an edit of a 1977 Benny Golson track by the same name takes the original and does what edits tend to do best. Using some of the ideal bits of the source material including the walking bass line, chords and Golson's unmistakable tenor saxophone solos, our unknown Japanese revisers add just enough flavour to make this already spicy dish that much zestier. This one is best served with a side of milk to help soothe the burn.

Pavel Iudin - Framework EP

Pavel Iudin is back on Poker Flat Wax with a new the killer four-track EP pressed on green and white vinyl.

Inspired by an industrial, technoid vibe reminiscent of Iudin growing up in a city surround by metallurgical industry, the title track 'Framework' is a slinky, crafty burner, built around an irresistible groove. Iudin keeps the extras to a minimum, letting the balance of a few key elements become the track's strength.

'Echelon' works around a tightly woven drum sample before opening up with some beautiful Access Virus synth effects.

'Dummy' is an exercise in restrained deepness - the track has a submerged quality that could work on many dance floors.

Last up is 'Automotive' - another groove driven cut that uses a minimum of elements without ever feeling minimal - sign of a producer fully in control of his craft.

"Automotive', says Iudin "is in contrast with my other records. I used sounds that are not typical for myself and they led me to something new. Perhaps this is a continuation of my previous track Dubrawa. I was also inspired by the idea of the raw and dubby Wax Only series, using simple patterns and sounds."
