@hiddenelement, the solo project of Igor Kirilenko, presents the ‘Cycles’ EP on the @1000xxplace imprint — the last instalment of the three-part album. It features three dance tracks, an ambient meditation, and two remixes by Throwing Snow and Nocow.

Following ‘Comparisons’ and ‘Kontinuum’, the final part follows the same concept of the former two. The material of the trilogy was written between 2017 and 2020, which included one year of living in the United States. In this regard, tracks like ‘Final Approach’ and several others were written during the artist’s difficult adaptation period in California. This piece of work reflects his personal process of finding the self, and, as a consequence, returning to Kyiv.

The New York City by way of Belgrade producer pillages the hypnotic beats of the 1980s Belgian new beat movement on his four track debut EP. With the additional flavors of Italo-disco and freestyle, all overtop the decidedly EBM bassline movements, the EP’s grooves are dangerously addictive as it twists and turns through moody atmospheres. Impulse was written during lockdown and, as Facets notes, was put together in haste: “It was produced somewhat fast,” he says, “and just had this impulse to finish and work on music at that time.”

“My Voice” finds strength in its repetition and trance-like rhythm; its clandestine and mesmerizing sample sets the attitude for the rest of the EP as it demands, “Relax… and accept it.” The track “New Dawn” feels like an extension of the new beat artist, Shakti, with its Middle Eastern-influenced synths that bellow over its chugging bassline. Acting as a peak hour track, “Impulse” demands attention with its synth stabs akin to the Rhythm Device banger, “Acid Rock”—here, Facets’ own interpretation is a powerful addition to the new beat genre. Finally, “Rush” manages to blend dance aesthetics together to create a sleek, polished result that could be compared to his fellow label mate, Curses. Impulse is an exciting first offering from Facets as an arsenal of reimagined underground club tracks that are fresh but, at the same time, remain familiar as a tribute to past dance movements.

Kendal - Come To Me (Club Mix)

Mysterious, melodic and dark - Portuguese can-do-no-wrong-er @lakehaze is back, adding to his impressive catalogue a four-tracker EP named 'Coordinates Of A Decaying World' for Lisbon's ever-attentive Paraíso.

Off-beat toms and rim shots paired with squelchy, slippery, acid make the opener, 'Galactic Federation', feel as bouncy and polyrhythmic as a non 4/4 track, playing a delicious illusion on the audience - completed emotionally by beautifully textured stabs and pads that speak of longing and perhaps of ethical space exploration to escape the pains of this Earth.

Reverb-drenched arpeggio acid and digital choirs welcome the listener in a grandiose, almost goth-like way, offset by an improvisational, on-the-go arrangement spirit, an impression that is met by the track title 'Jamming in Dracula's Castle'.

The B side opens with fat kicks and bass, its textures reminiscent of dutch and Belgian rave traditions; expertly merged with a Moroder-like synth-a-delic motif - always propulsed by that driving, taking-no-prisoners bass and acid lines.

The last track of the EP takes us to sunlight-drenched territories in comparison, with a warm sub bass and classic breaks serving as a base to another one of Lake Haze's expertly programmed acid lines.

The beautiful pads and melodies prevail, but the feeling in this closing number gives us an optimistic glimpse into a better future, after an EP that is about showing us some moodier, shadowy emotional rave bangers.

Organically grown from the game-changing event series garnering showcases and international takeovers from Berlin to Cape Town, Feinstoff has hosted some of the scene’s greats, such as Damon Jee, Terr, Biesmans and Yame. As a revered music platform and a trusted spearhead within Berlin’s electronic music scene, Feinstoff launches its own label.

Well-known for offering a plethora of authenticity, Feinstoff continues to deliver a significant edge on innovative electronic music and disco movements. This ethos is omnipresent in their first release, a collection of remixes for Romanian icon Alexandrina.

Curses' ever-powerful sonic presence and undeniable influence on the scene is felt greater by the day. He delivers a refreshing touch to his remix of ‘Black Magic’, with his signature baritone guitar and defined drums. In his dub version, more driving tension is added, along with a faster pace. Curses delivers yet another two gems dripping in his unmistakable arcane romanticism.

Greco—German powerhouse Local Suicide and Slow Motion Records affiliate Radondo join forces on their ethereal remix of ‘Animal Power’. Alexandria's vocals weave between twinkling arps and an ominous call and response between synthesized vocals. We’re transported to the dimly lit realms of their respective tastes.

Feinstoff label head Freudenthal snaps ‘Sirin’ into action with a euphoric reimagining of the original. Soaked in Feinstoff’s contemporary Nostalgia and subtle nods to post-punk, Freudenthal readies the remix for the Summer. The remixes all carry the thread of Feinstoff’s abundance of arpeggiated dance-floor magic.

Bucharest’s Walentin Pauer provides a melodic flip of ‘Sirin' with flashes of Electro and an almost C78-style drum pattern. With cosmic-style FX and washed-out hi-hats, we are led to a powerful dark wave payoff.

Borusiade transforms ‘Animal Power’ into an emotive, cinematic soundscape riding a gently oscillating arp, which builds to the wails and cries of Alexandrina’s climatic vocals from the original.

Rounding off the remix EP with conclusive flair is Mathmatrix’s mix for ‘Magnetic Eyes', a cathartic, anthemic piece weaving through flashes of alt-pop. The vocals sit beautifully within the mix's crushed edges, resulting in a breathtaking meeting of visions.

With a mantra to give Nostalgia a modern twist and provide an ever-effective launch pad for artists to expand their horizons, Feinstoff’s first release sets a strong tone for future releases and solidifies this vision.
