As highlighted by us in September last year, then Romanians have unwittingly formed a new blend of dance music, blending minimal techno & groove laden deep house, sewn up and exported to some of the clubbing world's hottest cities. Djs Rhadoo, Raresh and many more have helped to define a new sound amongst an overly-familiar genre - including hot export Priku. This Romanian musician and DJ shares a special 2 hour live mix with MEOKO, recorded at Bucharest's Snrs48 party, in turn delivering a live and unedited snapshot of his driving, deep and at times, subtle sound. A dynamic mix - playing with the space between notes and veering into minimal, atmospheric tapestries - Priku's focus on nuances in sound, percussive elements and thick slabs of bass running throughout shall take the MEOKO listener on a far flung, left of centre journey into a lesser known aesthetic. Refracted // PoleGroup, Mind Express, Silent Season

Music is all about connections, and is at it´s most vital when it speaks to you in a voice only you seem to hear. 
For Berlin-based Refracted, electronic music, and techno in particular, is the chosen medium to find his unique voice, to connect. 
And a growing number of people, wanting more from techno than formulaic entertainment and a soundtrack to dance to, are
connecting with his particular vision and peculiar sound. 
This might be because Refracted´s music feels as fundamentally human as it soundsotherworldly. 
It is techno more as an idea and conduit, than as an easilylabeled
sound. It is dance music where layered rhythms act almost on a
neural, sub epidermal level, while moving and evolving soundscapes
acquire a tactile, understated physicality. 
Paramount examples of this can be found on releases on Refracted's own Mind Express label, and on celebrated labels like PoleGroup and Canadian ambient/deep-techno imprint Silent Season. 
His path unravelling further, a mind set on favouring unflinching quality over quantity.
The dynamics created by this yearning to displace us from space and self, while rooted in a elemental, naturalistic approach, which catalyzes inner self discovery, are also at the foundation of his DJing. 
Spiritual, almost meditative, his sets possess a kinetic energy as well, which is a clear indication of a DJ who knows the fundamental role of dancing as part of the ritual. 
He wants to take us somewhere, the “where” being of our own choosing, the trail never being the most travelled.

Phonons is a non-profit organization supporting electronic musicians and selectors. It is based in Marseille - France and has strong connections in Europe , Asia and in the USA. It was founded in 2011 at the initiative of Nahim Bendjilali, Philippe Gray-Lopez and Vincent Telandro.

Phonons supports sound artists by providing expression spaces: we organize parties and showcases :: we promote the artists' work through our podcast and events. We mainly focus on electronic music.
