Enjoy this beautiful set from one of our favorite artists, Segue from Vancouver, Canada including one of his brand new productions! 

Segue is Jordan Sauer from Vancouver, Canada, who has produced music as Segue since 2006. Segue's draws inspiration from a wide range of musical influences and his early years studying classical violin, and his productions take dub-electronic in a more melodic, uplifting direction than the genre is typically known for. With each composition, Segue transports the listener to lush green forest landscapes, bucolic mountain vistas, and deep blue tropical island scenes. He has released several albums, EP’s and collaborations, and is looking forward to his third LP, 'The Island,' out on Silent Season summer 2019.

Mood series #20 is a cause for celebration!
20 releases! That is no small achievement!
Greyscale wishes to thank it's loyal listeners with a special treat from their founder. grad_u went deep into the archive and has collected 12 unreleased before tracks ranging from 2006 to 2016. This goes back to the time of his very first releases up through to the beginnings of the Mood Series! In those 10 years there is a lot of various sides to the grad_u sound that this highlight's. From powerful bangers like 'Helix' and 'Nuclear Reactor' to dancefloor gems such as 'Biomechanics' and 'DX'. Then there are sure fire winners for the tech fans with 'Vacuum Cleaner' and 'Machine'. grad_u hasn't forgot those that love it extra deep with 'Taip Laukiu' and 'Bounce 06'. There is also a few special checkpoints along the way in this release that will help you bookmark all these great tracks. Half way through, check out the grainy outerspace static in 'Sputnik' and to complete the release, the powerful and immense beatless monster that is 'Thamu'.

Wir sind stolz, dass sie auch für uns einen exklusiven Mix beisteuert! Keine geringere als Princess P, aus Bern! Wenn man bei Ihr über eine Stilrichtung reden möchte, liegt man falsch. Hier wird zusammengebracht, was zusammengehört, überraschend, aufwühlend und wo es einem leicht fällt einzutauchen.  Ein feines Gehör ein sehr feiner Mixstil runden diese Frau als Djane ab. Jahrelang hat sie für Plattfon Records in Basel gearbeitet, eine der Perlen unter den Schweizer Plattenläden, und die musikalische Agenda des Stores im An- und Verkauf mitgeprägt. Hinter den Tellern steht sie in renomierten Clubs und Festival, wie in Zürichs Clubinstitution Zukunft, im Elysia in Basel oder während des altehrwürdigen Montreux Jazz Festivals. So genug geredet, jetzt heisst es reinhören! Viel Spass auf der Reise!

Our next highlight is in front of the turntables and this in the literal sense.
We are proud that she also contributes an exclusive mix for us! None other than Princess P, from Bern! If you want to talk about a style of music with her, you are wrong. This is where she brings together what belongs together, surprising, stirring and where it's easy to dive in.  A fine ear and a very fine mixing style round off this woman as Djane. For years she worked for Plattfon Records in Basel, one of the pearls among Swiss record stores, and helped shape the store's musical agenda in buying and selling. Behind the plates she stands in renowned clubs and festivals, such as Zurich's club institution Zukunft, the Elysia in Basel or at the honored Montreux Jazz Festival. Enough talking, now it's time to listen! Have fun on the journey!

In 2019, Parisian cinema composer Jean-Gabriel Becker and Japanese composer and multi-instrumentalist Susumu Mukai embarked on the making of an album that was ultimately going to become Time Very Near.

The album that had been their focus for most of 2019 was finally released with great acclaim in April 2020 through the strangest time in history and echoed with their fellow musicians and producers for its singularity and originality.

Prompted by a few unsolicited offers for remixes, Becker & Mukai saw an occasion to invite their community of musician and producer friends to re-invent, deconstruct and rebuild the songs on “Time Very Near”.

Studio mates, friends and colleagues accepted to play the game and re-arranged the pair's global grooves and clattering beats into brand new original tracks. They all contributed to make the line-up for this project read like a who's who of London's electronic music scene:

Joe Goddard from Hot Chip, who, from his studio next door, had been a witness of the birth of the project, was kind enough to unleash his killer beats on Spice War, which is the first track to be shared with y'all.

In the next few weeks, more remixes will come:
Old friend Jas Shaw of Simian Mobile Disco fame transformed the tropical sounds of Dark Fields Of The Republic into a dance-floor ready techno workout..
Long-time collaborator and friend Sasa Crnobrnja (In Flagranti, Mytron & Ofofo, Auf Togo) took Time Very Near on a trip to Jamaica.
Label mate AMA//MIZU stripped Tout Azimuth down to its core to rebuild it with his unique production skills.
Dreems delivered a sweltering 19 minute version of Dark Fields Of The Republic and a shorter version more suited for a vinyl listen...
And finally Becker and Mukai chose to don alternative monikers (Zongamin for Mukai and Lux Prima for Becker) to re-interpret their own compositions...

Like the original album, this remix project gathers sounds and inspiration from an ever-expanding palette of influences, assembled into something amorphously intangible that’s simultaneously refreshing and sharp, meandering and cosmic, futuristic but timelessly vintage and manages to expand where the original album left off.

In a similar process, the remix album's cover is a re-invention of the original album art and will echo the collaborative collage that was created by the pair for “Time Very Near”.
