6 track full album LP by Fashion Flesh aka John Talaga from Michigan. He is known for his “off the grid” approach to music and has solo releases on great labels such as Unknown Precept, Jacktone and Fit/Est. 83’ Records.

Most all of the instruments used to perform and produce are self-built electronics, oscillators, generators, sound toys, and modulators. Those that are not built from one's own design are heavily modified beyond audible recognition or return. No sampling/stolen sound is ever used or sucked from outside pre-existing sources. 

No laptops, instead tape manipulation and hard copy cut-ups...analog devices that are built for specific purpose and dis-purpose.

"Rubber Mountain" is Fashion Flesh's first full LP and the first solo album we've released on Black Lodge. 6 tracks of mutant mayhem, spanning from odd italo-disco flavors, to no-wave, post-punk, jakbeat, and experimental sounds from the beyond. 

Equally for the dance floor and home listening, this record has it all. Also a visual artist, this release is housed in a full color double-sided jacket with art created by John Talaga himself.

As we approach the threshold leading us back to the Black Lodge on our transformative 8th journey, we are escorted through and beyond the mystical portal by the vigorous and fierce forces of Sneaker. Portrait in House is a collection of 3 resonant works, which are unified into a singular vision within its uncanny language that is rooted deeply in the foundations of Jak, New Beat, EBM, and Wave. Existing inside the liminal spaces of where light meets dark, we are presented with a documentation of dissonance and harmony. 

We begin our voyage with Jihad, a sluggish and slogging piece that unforgivingly drags us through the grime and the dirt in a ritualistic fashion that would have the ghost of Georges Bataille dancing in circles. Voices call out and howl into the dark as the drum patterns of the 707 rhythmically grasps onto its anarchic components. In the dark, we can see the light beyond the known universe. In the words of Sneaker “The name is not our message, but a document of an evident, traditional concept in (y)our world.”

As we find ourselves sprawled out on the ground following the 1st sonic stanza, a menacing voice bellows and warns that this is a Sax Track. Referencing Chicago icon Lil Louis, this work juxtaposes classical elements of house music together with the bare knuckled spirit of Jak. A magical spell led by disharmonious Portasound FM keys in conversation with a teetering sub bass, where at its core, this plus this, equals something that is uniquely familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. A number fit for any uncanny ritual that will fall under the night sky. 

Bringing our cosmic procession to a close we pick up the pace with a commanding number titled, Dance On, a no holds barred work that will possess your soul in the name of Jak. Flangers wail unforgivingly alongside a pulsating 101, as samples of the human voice are chopped up and arranged into a conversation that hypnotically calls for our bodies to be transformed into soft machines, while powered by ceremonious motions that are generated from the liberating process of ritual movement. We command you to dance!

Long time family of The Black Lodge, we are honored to release ELENA SIZOVA'S new full-length digital album entitled "MUZA" - an assemblage of dancefloor tracks, heady ambience and otherworldly experiments rooted deep in tradition yet expressed in fundamentally new ways, crossing over and dissolving any defined boundaries. As soon as you find yourself in familiar territory, Elena will surely take you in a new and undiscovered direction. A scientist from Belarus, Elena contributed earlier to our "Pestilent Expressions" Benefit Comp Series, though she's best known for her earlier collaborations with Heinrich Muller aka Gerald Donald (Drexciya/Dopplereffekt) in Der Zyklus and Daughter Produkt. Remixes and remodeling provided by the legendary Heinrich Muller and Douglas Lee (An-i).

"Reemerging from the threshold of the cosmic vortex, Black Lodge returns with another sonic artifact that is charged with vigorous chaotic energy, known as EXPERIMENT_ZERO. Accounts of the radiant object’s origin are as mysterious as the raw energy that utters from its core. Following a close study, the guardians of the portal suspect that “Experiment Zero” was a primordial experiment rooted in the slam jack pits and DIY warehouse rituals of ages passed. A sonic dialog constructed of various languages, spanning from roots-house jak to bare-knuckled electro are revealed across the artifact - a revolutionary tale that surpasses the constructs of ephemerality, with a refusal to be ignored.

Across the release the listener is confronted with fearless acid lines that are underscored by a tone of revolution, and sets the stage for a human voice that switches between modes of a sharp and mutated presence. The power of such sonic objects are both celebrated and rejected by various tribal societies. It is all dependent on the belief structures and traditional histories of its members. Those that belong to the cult of Ron Hardy, Mad Mike Banks, Traxx, and JTC will welcomingly be drenched in its riotous energies. It is for the dedicated, not the light-hearted."

Extremenly pleased to share this set from Sawf in a truly amazing event we co-hosted with 3 Shades of Black. A  pure  lineup hosted Ancient Methods, ANFS Live and Morah, which occurred on the 18th of January 2020 at Temple Athens.

It was 6:30 in the morning when Sawf took over the decks in closing duty that lasted until 10, a night we will never forget and looking forward to live again. Enjoy the ride!

We chose Phase Fatale’s remix of Psychic Driving. A pure booming techno stomper, mechanical texture vocals and dual basslines dives lower on the chromatic scale keeping a dark tone. Well suited for fogged out and dimly lit club settings.
