Here's part 2 of my 3-part tribute to the mighty Stress Records, streamed live on Facebook on Saturday 4th Sep 2021. 

This mix bridges the gap from the pure House sound of Stress (Part 1) across to the 'Progressive House' sound emerging into Stress releases throughout the mid-1990s. Some of the label's biggest tunes were released during this period, and also feature in this mix.

There you have it... the trilogy is complete! Here's my 3rd & final tribute mix to the mighty Stress Records featuring music from the 'final phase' of the label as they pushed on toward the end of the 1990s. The focus of this particular mix is on the 'Progressive' sound that was dominating clubland at that point, with no shortage of era-defining classics dropping like bombs from Stress HQ into the hearts & minds of DJs & clubbers around the world. I'd like to say a personal thank you to Dave Seaman & Nick Gordon-Brown for skippering the label & school of scoundrels so well, but also to all the artists & DJs that made the music we all know and love today. This trilogy has been so much fun to put together and play, I hope you've enjoyed listening too... Great work, Scoundrels!

‘Glang Glang’ is the first single from Dog Food’s debut EP ‘Gloom Moves’. Embodying the light side of the tracklist, the song is dreamy; funky and heartfelt, with the lyrics loosely outlining a fractious house party experience had by songwriter Will. Oozing with 70s splendour, velvety vocals and visceral groove, ‘Glang Glang’ is sure to lift you out of Winter misery.

Another tasty selection of Progressive House tunes from my record collection circa 1995. This mix is at the "housier" end of progressive house, with plenty of vocals, melodies and pianos. It was the sound of UK club land in the mid 90's with DJ's like Dave Seaman, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha & Diggers all playing an epic sound of musical massiveness.

This mix features tracks by BT, Grace, Chris & James, Mozaic and Mothers Pride released on labels including Skinny Malinky, Perfecto and the mighty Stress Records.

As always, this was mixed on 2 x Technics 1210's + Allen & Heath Xone 22 mixer via Serato Scratch Live. No other computer trickery allowed...
