When I first met BiLla, I was at the legendary DIY venue 52 hz in West Philadelphia. I got to the party early, and was really engaged with BiLla's opening set for the evening. It was a tasteful blend of classic House and Techno I had no frame of reference for. His selection was completely un-ShaZamable, which made it ever the more novel.

About a year later, I was record shopping at Brewerytown Beats and recognized him. I decided to finally introduce myself. The conversation was uplifting, considering I had no idea how vast his musical knowledge and experience extended, and we both lived in close proximity! I had then kept BiLla on my radar as someone with great taste and good vibes.

Before COVID hit, BiLla was a mainstay and a great source for anyone who wanted to experience a musical journey with his residency at the Trestle Inn. If you've ever been to the Trestle Inn, it's a tucked away, time warp of a venue off the beaten path between Northern Liberties and Chinatown. It's a worthwhile destination spot, and the times I have seen BiLla spin, it's clear this was his domain of expertise, and he knew how to tell a story all night long, entirely on vinyl!

Please enjoy this month's Ancient Puzzle Arts mix BiLla contributed. It's a very tension-and-release blend of breaks, IDM, Detroit techno and electro, all on vinyl, in an impressive 2 hour mix!
