Kem - Love Calls (cdeee ATL Bass Remix)

This is my first mix entitled “UMBAZI”, inspired by an art piece by South African artist, Wonder Buhle, whom which called the piece “UMBAZI” as well. Umbazi means “a carpenter” in Zulu. As we are carpenters in our own ways; building communities, creating safe spaces for our peers. My interpretation of Wonder’s piece is the fact that our mothers, their mothers, and so on, are THE carpenters of our lives. Amapiano is the closest thing, to me, that feels like a mother’s touch while I’m away. It feels like the kiss on forehead. It feels like the rubs on the back, while they let you know everything will be okay.
