A short improvisation inspired by our first visiting hummingbird of the season. ☺️

The Hummingbird

The first version of this in 2005 was a reaction to nationalism as exhibited via plane hijackings. This time the US border politics triggered a rewrite with a different chord structure and words. Just acoustic guitar and bass: back to basics!

I knew I had to catch a train to the USA
I should be excited but I know I’m not
I’m feeling all the fears that America’s got 

There are borders and a national guard
There are people who are living so hard
I think it’s time to make us all the same

Out of the xray beam to the border gate
Who’s got a false passport are they here today?
I’m looking around for a sweaty brow

Sonatas Op.9 No.77 (for two pianos)

Welcome to my SoundCloud page.  It serves as a jar of sorts, to catch the musical ideas flying around in my head!  My hope is that you find something to listen to that offers encouragement and refreshes your soul.

All music is original with a few exceptions (such as new arrangements of old Christmas songs, etc.).  All music has been written and performed with absolutely no AI-assistance.  I primarily perform and record on the Yamaha MODX8, with an occasional recording on my older Yamaha Clavinova.  You will also find collaborative works on my page, featuring some other amazing musicians on SoundCloud.

It is a joy to share my music with you, and I hope you enjoy listening!
