PREMIERE :  Little Dumbo - Let Me Hear It

Bobby Nourmand closes out the year with a return to Spectrum, following February's blistering single 'BURN'. His new release, T-99, sees the LA producer open up his creative process to a pair of kindred spirits: Berlin duo Local Suicide.

What began as an off-the-cuff studio sketch - track number 99 - soon morphed into something far more formidable. 'T-99' channels a stark, near-future atmosphere, driven by Local Suicide's Dina Summer and her icy cold-wave, post-punk vocal presence. Nourmand's shadowy techno pulse underpins the track, giving shape to a world teetering on the edge of an AI-ruled spiral.

To counterbalance the trio's brooding vision, they turned to their own 'John Connor': Mexican producer and Duro label head Theus Mago. His rework preserves the original's cinematic tension and post-punk bite, but injects a jolt of unexpected momentum, an insistent, and undeniable body-locking groove.

'T-99' lands as a sharp and imaginative collaboration, and a striking final chapter to Nourmand's year on Spectrum.

The fifth collection of "Voidness" remixes assembles some of the most light-hearted reworks to date. Opening up with Kitkaliitto's delicate take on NOTR, "Glowbrick" browses through the many faces of four-to-the-floor modern electronic music ranging from Ghostek's "warehouse techno" edit of "To Hear Her Burial", Thomas Bjerring's summery vision of the otherwise dark "Crimson Purple" and last but not least, Morris Cowan's trademark quirkiness applied to perfection on one of Voidness' anthems, "Womb".

Why another compilation-series if we have plenty of sources for the insatiable music spotter, let alone that presumably every second person seems to be a well-informed DJ? Well, Emerald Dreams surely is a collection of single tracks that you may want to add to your DJ-set, but if you listen to the continuous mix, it rather tells a story of various characters and moodswings. The tunes have been selected to contribute to the talents of the artists, regardless of stylistic boundaries or difference in colour. As selectors, go nogo a.k.a. Eric Schemer & Fred Scholl obviously love the English idea of mesh culture as well as they are suspicious of puristic boredom. This exposition also gives an idea about the wide range of styles which Emerald Dreams are made of. You may also consider this first selection as an introduction of some artists with whom Emerald & Doreen Recordings will work in the near future.
