‘The Pretty Fingers’ are an Australian alternative-rock outfit, originating from Redcliffe Peninsula in Brisbane.  Their sound is versatile insofar as its sense of innovation; the grit, passion, and rhythm of Australian classic and modern rock is prominent, echoing the spirit contained in the great Australian pub rock bands such as Midnight Oil, Powderfinger, and Spy vs. Spy.  This is complimented by undertones of iconic British alt-rock - from the dirty licks inspired by Kasabian, to the rawness found in Radiohead’s, ‘Pablo Honey’ - which, together form the canvas upon which frontman, and guitarist, Mick Bristow brings an Iron Maiden-meets-Kaiser Chiefs lead vocal that is naturally punctuated by his native accent.

And no more “What gear do I need?” thanks to all the necessary gig details including load in and backline details, time and place, set times, number of people invited and who has confirmed attendance. It even includes the venue location on the map! No more “Where is it again?”

13 years. 9 albums. Royal Chant get around. Royal Chant (often abbreviated as RC) is an Australian indie rock band formed in 2009 in the small coastal town of Port Macquarie. The band has made frequent personnel changes but has always maintained the presence of principal songwriter & singer/guitarist Mark Spence. Taking his initial songwriting cues from Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Robert Pollard, Shane MacGowan, & Michael Stipe (to name just a few), Royal Chant's extensive songbook contains trace elements of Sonic Youth, GBV, the early proto-punk of Idlewild, and basically anything with heart, a good melody, and a fuzz pedal or two. Of course the Beatles are lurking in there somewhere as well, all thrown together over the years into a fuzz-box blender and fused with a blue-collar work ethic, good manners, and an odd penchant for being on time and reading the worksheet before live shows.

The current line-up consists of Mark on guitar (or baritone guitar) and vocals and Wade Mobbs behind the drums, with guitarist and multi-instrumentalist James Carthew remaining a contributing member of the band both on record and on stage despite living and designing killer space robots in Ann Arbour, Michigan in the U-S-of-A. The band has recently added bassist Arkhea Mobbs to the line-up as well now that live shows are slowly starting to resume in the post-COVID wasteland of live entertainment. The band is hard at work finding the perfect fuzz tone for their 9th studio LP, "Anyways and also sorry", set for launch on May 20th, 2022.
