I am a young boy from south Auckland and I have always been surrounded by music. My Mum and Dad are always listening to music & my Uncle is always trying to sing slow jams (lol). Mum listens to a real wide range of stuff, and Dad loves his 90's and his soul, RNB and old school joints. That is mainly what I play (i gotta play their collections while i build mine), which is a good learning place for me as todays music, is mostly rehashed 
from yesterdays jams. I started playing around with Virtual DJ for a while, and then when my Dad saw that i stuck at it and was pretty keen, he asked a couple of Dj's what the best thing was to do gear wise. One was DJ Reminise, and he told Dad to "get the good gear right from the start". Dad struck a deal with me and in Feb 2012, I got a 1210 M5G, a Numark Mixer and an SL1 and I was away. A few months after that, Dad saw DJ Reminise advertising a Back 2 Basics DJ Academy, and he spoke with mum about it, and saw how dedicated I was, and enrolled me in the Acadamy as a birthday present. It was the straight up best birthday present I have ever got. I got taught so much in the 6 weeks that the course ran for. It was unbelievable. At the moment I am just trying to find my own style using the tools I have been given. I have met some super cool people already along the way, obviously DJ Reminise for starters. Meeting and watching DJ CXL up close was a major buzz for me. Getting the chance through the academy to jam with DJ Scizzorhands, DJ Spence and DJ Chukkee was awesome, and I was super lucky to get to have a little jam with DJ Beau-z,Dj Postman Patt and DJ Regz. Also big up's to my fellow Acadamy boys Dj Viddy and DJ Cypha. Hopefully I have made a couple of friends for life right there. Well thats pretty much it so far.
