OVERVIEW:
Driven by the inherently political nature of techno, M_Rec Ltd. launches a new series of 10” vinyl editions aimed exclusively at showcasing quality techno tracks. As straightforward black label 10” records, with the tracks info etched on vinyl, these releases offer Max_M and his label the opportunity to quickly distribute new exciting productions to dedicated djs and vinyl lovers.

On this very first release, label owner Max_M and Attic Music founder Fabrizio Lapiana explore the dark corners of techno with two hypnotic cuts. Stirring away from the techno-tool formula, these tracks are fully formed narratives, journeys that seem to pay tribute to the vinyl format itself, meant to be played in their entirety.

Max_M’s cut is abrasive and moody. A forward driving and rich bassline meets a set of sharp drones, along with a glacial melody setting the undertone for the whole experience. It’s a track dedicated to no-light dancefloors and late night sessions. Experimental and impactful at the same time.

On the flipside, Fabrizio Lapiana offers a crafty cut. With melody and drum work growing together, the track brings ambient soundscapes and complex beat programming into total harmony. What comes out is an affective and uniquely melodic techno track that mixes old and new, a touching listen on and off the dance floor.

With this new 10” series M_Rec Ltd. creates another output to convey and preach its vision and passion for all things techno.

After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. Following the first single “On The Edge / Perplexed” & the second single “Dirtro II” (including the stellar ‘New Device Remix’ by Robert Hood), we now present you the last segment of the series with 2 remixes. On the A-side Rødhåd delivers an epic 10 minute interpretation of the first single ‘Perplexed’, while Robert Hood delivers a second, more minimalistic take on “Dirtro II” for the flip.

OVERVIEW:
Time for the second black label M_Rec Ltd 10”, a series of no-frills vinyl records used by Max_M to deliver dancefloor oriented tracks to djs and techno fans around the world.

On one side, Max_M delivers an irresistible joint that thanks to layers and layers of elements manages to surprise beginning to end. That high pitch bell sound, which is somehow becoming a trademark in Max_M’s productions, splits in multiple directions generating soulful melodies and grooves. A perfect track for peak time.

Fabrizio Lapiana’s cut is an introspective journey rich in modular-fueled melodies. Its mellow refrains pay tribute to ambient classics and trippy British electronica, while the drum programming sets the track into a techno context, groovy and forward driving.

DVS1, aka Minneapolis-raised Zak Khutoretsky, will release a new Klockworks record on the 16th of July 2014. It will be his third outing on Ben Klock's label, following acclaimed records in both 2009 and 2011.

DVS1 is not just a techno DJ or producer, when the time is right his sets will gladly diverge into other styles to take the dancefloor where he sees fit, and his studio work too. 'Black Russian' sounds DVS1 like in house mode, as dub techno-inspired piano chords repeat to infinity, floating above padded kicks and moving hi-hats. This is one of the lightest tracks released under the DVS1 alias, but it's still equipped to create blissful ecstasy when played - a favourite closing track for both DVS1 and Ben Klock.

Flip over to the B-side and it's back to Zak's usual tone of dark techno, the style exhibited on his previous two Klockworks 12"s. The eerie bleeps and haunting atmospheres of 'Creeping' evolve for seven minutes, driven along by shuffling high-end percussion. It is understated and subtly arranged as a tool, the kind of track DJs rely on to keep momentum building with energy and elegance.

'Spying' is another prime example of DVS1's take on minimalism, it is stripped-down and makes the most of the fewest possible elements. 'Spying' cropped up in Ben Klock's Fabric mix last year, and has been been a staple in his DJ sets; for good reason, it embodies the deep pulse and light/dark contrast of all Klockworks output.

2014 has already provided three stellar DVS1 releases, two on his own label Hush and this. It's all evidence that this producer's work in the studio is now on par with his exceptional talent behind the decks, quite a prospect for fans new and old.

It is Monday the 24th of June 2013 and we have Brian Sanhaji back on the CLR Podcast. Brian is a long-time label artist who has been playing his haunting live performances at countless clubs, festivals and CLR events worldwide. His outstanding feeling for sound has also secured him the position as the mastering technician of all music coming out on CLR, amongst other renowned labels. The present podcast celebrates the release of Brian´s brand-new “Daria EP” (CLR068), which is out on CLR today and includes three excellent tracks by this inspiring artist. The set is a live recording from a recent gig at the legendary Tresor club in Berlin and features exclusively original productions, including a couple of tracks from the EP, a remix Brian did for “Speak Silence” (one the titles of the upcoming Drumcell album, which due this summer on CLR), as well as several previously unreleased tracks. Apart from touring with his unique live shows, he is currently working on a new album.
