Greetings to all,

My name is Melvin and I've always wanted my music to be a humble expression of my artistry and talent, and to some measure, a close and inner look at my heart and soul.

As a child I started singing at an early age, while learning to play my mom's acoustic guitar. In less than a year and by the age of nine I was playing full songs I would hear on the radio;  by the age of ten, friends, family and school teachers noticed my ability to sing, and by the 5th grade I was winning talent shows and taking interest in other musical instruments.

I took guitar lessons as well as piano lessons.
During that time the digital recording era had not evolved into an easy-to-build home studio, so that was not an option for me at first.  

By age thirteen I performed my own songs live with the piano as accompaniment.
It wasn't until my high school teenage years that I had prodigious performances winning 1st place in talent shows driving my ego and self-pride to continue this journey of music creativity and talent mastery. 

By age seventeen, I wrote a song which was produced for me in a recording studio in Carlstadt NJ.   During that time, whoever said they had a home studio really had a mic plugged into a PC with no real mixing and mastering knowledge and that's not what I was looking for.

This was a professional recording studio paid hourly to produce my track and allow me to do what I always wanted,  fill my song with harmonies in the background with no limitations, just let me overlap my voices.

This was my debut as an artist and everyone could now see what I was truly made of. People's reaction was diverse; broadly enthusiastic or blown away, while other times incredulous or puzzled; all part of what is dealt with when exposing one's talent.

- "omg, that can't be you, is that really you? " 
and the ever cliché...
- " Who's singing in the background with you? "
All me ladies and gentlemen, ALL ME... 

The studio engineer was amused at the fact this was my first time in a studio and I kept asking to rewind the track to add more voices. 
Years later I started building my own recording studio and the artist in me was re-born; constantly striving for perfection. 

Throughout time, I've been creating and deleting music pages and websites willing to show my talent while other times hiding and suppressing my work, feeling that being normal and more average is easier than constantly maintaining some sort of image waiting to hear who thinks what, and what the next comment, opinion or  judgment will be.

I have to thank many fans since the era of MySpace_Music, Sound Click, Reverb Nation and Sound Cloud which have brought me many fans and followers. I beg pardon for disappearing and deleting an active page from one day to the next.  I tend to be driven impulsively when it comes to my music and whenever enough was had, I'd get off the spotlight only to come back with new tracks better than the last.

Despite the fact many would choose creation of professional photos or album covers, I prefer to keep it more humble and ordinary using image collages showing my true self, not only for this website, but for all that I exhibit. 
I want to appear as an average person with talent as opposed to displaying myself as a professional recording artist the way many aspiring singer/songwriters would.
