'Wait by the Water' was recorded a few months ago at the theatre de l'Athénée in Paris with the gifted violinist Jasser Haj Youssef.
I wrote it after having finished Between Dogs and Wolves album with the live show in mind. I wanted to sing something that would work as a way of tuning ourselves into the right frequency in order to listen to quiet and intimate music.

Following the events that occurred in several countries and closer to us in Paris and in response to the media and community’s reactions, we have decided to gather around between friends and record a version of Los Hermanos, written by Atahualpa Yupanqui, to advocate the importance of being united. I started out as a painter writing music on the side and then I ended up writing songs and painting on the sly. If my songs were maps I'd want them to stretch from the English moors to the Saharan dunes via the plains of the Mediterrannean.
Most of the time, I release my music on my own label Beating Drum.
I've collaborated with many wonderful artists and musicians over the years, amongst them, Vincent Segal, Ballake Sissoko, Ben Harper, Ibrahim Maalouf and Rokia Traore and more.
