There's a story behind every person's canvas and brush. Mine is just one of many. I've been an enthusiast for poetry ever since I was in grade school. My favorite author is Shel Silverstein who wrote "A Light in the Attic" and "The Giving Tree". Every day during reading session I would pick up one of his books and read his simple yet complex poems over and over again until it was embedded in my head. I always thought that 2pac Shakur was amazing at painting pictures of experiences through his eyes. Poetry and rap music was the perfect one two punch for me. I didn't start actually writing my own poetry until I was about 24yrs old when a girl that I was in a new relationship when behind my back and left me for her ex boyfriend. Breaking up with me on my birthday I was pretty frustrated and upset. The only thing that could ease my mind was to write. I wrote the whole night which was a monologue to her about how bad she hurt me and all that I've done for her. I started to recite the poem once finished and I had a song playing on the radio in the background that went perfectly with the lyrics I was reciting. That day was the day I started putting in the effort to learn the craft and started rapping. I guess I have her to thank for creating another side of me.  It's been an incredible journey ever since and quoting Mike Shinoda in a Linkin Park track, "The journey's more important than the end or the start".  Oh and my website rhymepoetapparel.com is live! As producer and former club DJ, I seek to develop music and sounds that symbolize both a place and a feeling. More so, the process of combining music with video has been a tool to showcase these styles and meaning. 
 
In the 2010s, holding DJ residencies in Seattle under the alias: Moynilectric, my focus was on deep house, techno and festival rave, while often showcasing original music in the mix. 
 
Moving into a solely production period of the 2020s, my target has been to create music that is both diverse and tells a story. In the 2020 album Perspectives, the aim was to describe the stages of growth in mental maturity and the patterns of mood fluctuation. While many styles of electronic music were influences, a strong cinematic style emerged as well. 
 
In the 2021 album Intelligent Rats, this production was done to align with the animated film: The Secret of NIMH. Over the lockdown periods of the early 2020s, I took on this project to create an original score that evoked an alternative and dark synth take on the film.
 
In my newest release: Ocean Patterns (2022), the album is a musical representation of different stages in ocean tide cycles. While staying on a remote island in the Puget Sound of the Northeast Pacific Ocean region, all ten songs were constructed to line up with these unique natural stages in the environment.

Olga Gonzalez Latapi (she/her/hers) is a queer poet with an MFA in Writing from California College of the Arts. She has worked with poets like Joseph Lease, who was and remains her mentor, as well as Tonya Foster and Judith Serin. Her voice has been championed by writers like Leslie Carol Roberts, who is the writing program director at California College of the Arts and remains one of her biggest inspirations. She was born under the watchful eye of Frida Kahlo and now she walks surreal roads inside of her mind. She has walked strange roads for twenty-seven years and she looks forward to many more. She started her training in Mexico and journeyed to the United States in search of higher education. She is a graduate of Northwestern University where she earned a BS in Journalism with a minor in English Literature. She thought she wanted to report on the real events of the world, but the worlds inside her mind called with even louder voices. Although her writing journey started in journalism, she is now pursuing her true passion: exploring the world of poetry with a mighty pen in hand and lovely chaos in her heart. Her work has been published in Teen Voices Magazine, Sonder Midwest literary arts magazine, BARNHOUSE Literary Journal (Box of Parrots),  iaam.com and The Nasiona magazine, as well as a handful of school publications in Mexico City and Northwestern. Originally from Mexico City, she currently lives in Toronto.
