Artists include Frikstailers, Thornato, Tremor, Maga Bo, King Coya, Psilosamples, El Búho, El Remolón Nicola Cruz, Rafael Aragon, Blocktreat, Prisma, Reptilian Commander, Barrio Lindo, Sidirum and Chancha himself, under his previous alias "Universildo".  The result of this selection is a powerful and experimental album where the unique sounds of Chancha dare to travel to new latitudes, catalyzed by the wide ranging vision of the remixers.

The album also features the special participation of Acampante, an Argentiniam multifaceted artist, who was encouraged to remix the original artwork ( Paula Duró's "Madadayo" ) in a fresh and fun way.

UNLOVED

As a trailer for Unloved, the Guilty Of Love EP is a breathlessly evocative roll of the title sequence, a glimpse behind the cinema curtain, a run through the rushes of their musical ‘film noire’. 
Released on October 16th on Unloved Records, the EP precedes the full Unloved album due in the new year. 

Spearheaded by David Holmes, in collaboration with film and TV composer Keefus Ciancia (True Detective), and songwriter-vocalist Jade Vincent (The Jade Vincent Experiment), Unloved are born of 60’s girl groups, influenced by the great George 'Shadow' Morton, Jack Nitzsche, the soundtracks of Morricone, Nino Rota and the electronic sounds of Raymond Scott.  Jade, Keefus and David had the honour of collaborating with one of their favourite musicians Woody Jackson who co wrote the music on 'No Friend Of Mine', 'Cry Baby Cry' and 'Far From Here' on this debut EP.

David met Keefus and Jade in LA in 2013, that same summer Keefus and Jade started a regular Tuesday night residency in Los Feliz called The Rotary Room. A collective of great musicians, including Woody Jackson (Red Dead Redemption), Gus Seyffert (Beck, The Black Keys), Jay Bellerose (T Bone Burrent) and Deantoni Parks (John Cale), forming informal ensembles curated by Jade, Keefus and David Piltch, with David Holmes invited to DJ between each band.  

These common themes and sonic adventures led to the birth of ‘UNLOVED’, evoking the sounds and spirit of The Shangri La’s, Bruno Nicolai, The Paris Sisters, The BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Phil Spector's wall of sound.

A band was then brought together at Woody Jackson’s VOX Studios in LA, where the sound they had envisaged could actually be realised. Further Unloved contributors have included the legendary Jim Keltner (John Lennon), Wayne Kramer (MC5) and Tommy Morgan (The Beach Boys, Elvis).

This song is an ode to the long gone but never forgotten video rental shop on Aberystwyth Pier. Some of it's parts were recorded on an unreturned copy of "Girl Interrupted" from that shop.

‘You Never Left’ on side A is  very much in the same feel as the collection of songs on new album which will be out in a few months. Since I recorded ‘Two grains of sand’ in 2008  I’d been wanting to record a whole album of intimate songs and ballads, finding myself a free agent in 2012, I was finally able to put all my energy into making this project come to life by starting up my own label Beating Drum. I recorded almost all of the album by myself apart from a few days when I was joined by bassist Jules Bikoko and cellist and singer Dom la Nena. This 7” vinyl is the first release on Beating Drum. The song ‘You Never Left’ isn’t on the album but it offers a little taste of things to come.

‘Robot Theme 6′ on side B is an instrumental track from a soundtrack I wrote for the film ‘A world without humans’ by Philippe Borrel. I’ve been writing soundtracks since the late nineties mostly for documentaries and occasionally for fiction both for the BBC and Channel 4 in the U.K. I enjoy writing instrumental music although it’s a very different proposition to writing songs and this release for Record Store Day seemed a great opportunity to publish one of these more unusual tracks.

Beginning at 23:30 on Saturday May 16th and through 3:00 Monday May 18th, 2009 Chilly Gonzales broke the Guiness World Record for longest concert by a solo artist. The previous record was 26 hours and 12 minutes and was performed by Prasanna Gudi (India) at the Mallikarjun Mansoor Kala Bhavan public auditorium, Dharwad, Karnataka, India from 28 to 29 December 2008.

Gonzales explained his motivation: “I will do this to push my musical and physical stamina. I believe music is part art, part athletics and this 27-hour concert will demonstrate both aspects.”

Gonzales had been consulting with the Guiness Book of Record to ensure a smooth attempt and an Official Guinness Judge adjudicated the event on site. Repertoire touched on recognizable songs from all eras and styles of music, in new and surprising arrangements. There was no repetition of material during the attempt. As Gonzales himself said “I will break the record without sounding like a broken record”.

The record attempt took place at the theatre of notable French film director Claude Lelouch, Theatre Ciné 13 in Paris. The attempt in its entirety was streamed live on the web and achieved #2 Twitter Trend status at its peak.

I started out as a painter writing music on the side and then I ended up writing songs and painting on the sly. If my songs were maps I'd want them to stretch from the English moors to the Saharan dunes via the plains of the Mediterrannean.
Most of the time, I release my music on my own label Beating Drum.
I've collaborated with many wonderful artists and musicians over the years, amongst them, Vincent Segal, Ballake Sissoko, Ben Harper, Ibrahim Maalouf and Rokia Traore and more.
