'Libera Me' for six voices (2022)

“Mis-en-scène ( for woodwind quartet)", coming this month!*

I am a British composer, who has studied composition privately with British composer Peter Nickol (although I am largely self-taught). I have also studied piano (privately) with concert pianist Ekaterina Shetliffe. 
My music contains elements of impressionism, and musical modernism; I have also explored 12-tone composition.
For several years now, I have been developing my own composition technique, which focuses on the liminal area between stochastic and spectral music, which I intend to use in my future compositions.

Composers who have influenced me include Schumann, Chopin, Schoenberg, and Ligeti; however my formative musical inspiration is the music of Debussy.

VARP is a group of musicians that explore the ancient churches of Gotland. Through immersion in meditative states of musical improvisation, the spaces speak through them, creating sensual portraits and new stories.

Due to the war in Ukraine Swedish and Ukrainian musicians have met on the island of Gotland, a small island in the Baltic sea famous for its medieval legacy and Bergman films. 

In a troubling world the church rooms create a sanctuary away from the noise of the ordinary world. A place for reflection and here artistic expression.

Each album will be dedicated to a specific church where music will be created live. This is an experiment without expectations and disappointments, music is like a journey.

I teach in US higher education (in a STEM field) for a living & am a hobbyist composer writing in a few different styles. I recommend headphones. All of my music is released under a Creative Commons Attribution/Noncommercial license.

My bandcamp page is getting out of date again, but some older albums there can be downloaded for free or for a name-your-own price donation.
