Piff Records presents A Story Of Innocence Lost, the latest record by Shaolin Cowboy. At five tracks long, the EP presents a jazzy vision of deep house from Shaolin Cowboy, also known as Alec Campbell, and features collaborations with producer AJ Edward. What stands out here is Campbell's ability to craft intriguing rhythms and gorgeous textures, a stellar addition to a growing back catalogue.

'Down Like That' opens the record. Shaolin Cowboy and AJ Edward build plush synths around a pitched-down vocal sample, but the real highlight here is the rhythms. Thumping percussion drives the track forward at a steady pace, and when the thick bass tones envelope the speaker, the atmosphere is akin to the laid-back feel of an early evening European summer.

In our efforts to house the underrepresented spectrum of musical genres, there’s no one better than @jovella. 

Jovella is a femme and queer identifying San Diego based DJ, a small but mighty force to be reckoned with. She pulls inspiration and practices self expression through music, event curation, fashion, advocacy, and other creative mediums. 

Jovella is the Founder and Creative Visionary of Sisiety @sisiety, an organization intended to showcase underrepresented artists such as women and LGBTQ+ folks and curate inclusive experiences that embrace creativity and empower community. She has had the pleasure of playing at Sisiety experiences, other events and festivals around SoCal including lineups from The Afternoon Umbrella Friends, Connect San Diego, Iluvincognito, Veluda SD, San Diego Pride, and more. 

In this journey from 124 to 174 BPM, she shares a softer side of their electronic music library. Featuring an assortment of blissful breaks, UKG, dreamy DnB, and more, this mix is a collection of sounds that speak to the soul.
