Wolf Ear & Fassbender make their RKP label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Strange Lights’. Hailing from Canada and Germany respectively, Wolf Ear & Fassbender have been paired together as occasional studio partners since 2020. 

Releases via Wolf Ear’s Strange Town Recordings imprint solidified the duo’s creative synergy, blurring the borders between progressive and melodic house, and in turn earning the praise of the progressive fraternity’s top tastemakers. 

Subsequent projects via Dreaming Awake and Mango Alley would also land with a resounding thump, the most recent of which was a August of 2025 with thier remix of ‘As We Rise’ by Ghostpipes. 

Now, taking centerstage for the RKP faithful, Wolf Ear & Fassbender make an impressive label debut with a stellar rendition of ‘Strange Lights’. Opting for a subversive approach, Wolf Ear & Fassbender deconstruct the main elements over a traditional progressive framework. An artist who has charted a meticulous path to the upper echelons of the underground dance scene, Tim Penner continues to deliver astounding pieces of music full of emotion and soul. Returning to Proton Music with an original EP for the first time since May 2014's "The Tunnel", Penner now hits new heights with "Lost Again".

An artist very much at the vanguard of the underground movement, within his Toronto hometown and far beyond its frontiers, Tim Penner has continually crafted and moulded his productions into a uniquely distinctive sound that sets him apart in a crowded and saturated industry. Always engaged and accessible to his growing fan base, the Canadian is a model for the modern DJ and producer in the second decade of the 21st century.

Reinvigorated and energised by a Portuguese sabbatical that brought into sharp relief the paradox between inspiration, craft and the proliferation of production technology, Penner witnessed a paradigm shift in his approach to the music-making process. With "creativity, originality and experimentation" watchwords for his methodology, Tim Penner's career has continued to rise, unhindered by the chains of trend and fashion. Able to bridge genres with consummate ease, a remix of Max Graham's "Airtight" saw his work selected as one of Beatport's "Top 10 Tracks of 2015". A regular on Graham's "Cycles" shows, compilations and live appearances, Penner's iconic DJ performances have seen him behind the decks at a plethora of clubs and events across North and South America and continental Europe as he melds time signatures, tempos and genres into a melting pot that bubbles with kinetic dance floor energy.

A regular on such high-profile labels as JOOF, Afterglow and Black Hole, and supported by the DJ elite that includes, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Nick Warren, Penner's own Slideways imprint continues to provide a vehicle for his own work and carefully selected artists that consistently gain momentum in the underground scene. A regular on Proton Music since 2013's debut, remixes of Oliver Lieb, Andre Sobota and Huminal have showcased an array of talents, spearheaded by two original EPs in the shape of 2013's "Pyrogen" and 2014's "The Tunnel".

As an explosive 2017 beckons, Tim Penner now returns to Proton Music with the twin-track, "Lost Again" EP. Opener, "Kharon", is a rolling, hypnotic piece full of gravitas and seething dance floor prowess. A strong kick locks tightly to a running bass line, while lustrous arpeggio touches evolve elegantly into detailed sequences that reach a spine-tingling denouement in the breakdown. Percussive claps and hi-hat urgency usher in club familiarity while textured and granular effects sustain interest throughout.

The title track is a work of beauty and majesty. Full of passion and imbued with Penner's personality and soul, a wondrous sustained bass line and crystalline arpeggio sequence create an exhilarating backdrop for a sumptuous vocal to sit atop, "Lost Again". Coalescing with a further counterpoint melodic line in breakdown and third movement, dynamism and vitality flow through the track's musical heart.

With a new and original EP bearing the hallmark of genuine quality, Proton Music is delighted to rediscover Tim Penner through "Lost Again".

Eelke Kleijn's original mix of 'De Orde Van De Nacht' continues to remain a massive hit on Beatport. C-U's favourite new wave progressive artist AFFKT gives it the remix treatment, opting to keep some elements of the original percussion, but takes it in a much darker and hypnotic direction.

A huge driving bassline powers this one along nicely aiming this squarely at the dance floor. The perfect balance of sounds in the mix are breathtaking and hauntingly beautiful, just like the original. Another production masterclass from AFFKT, an artist that continues to go from strength to strength this year. Surely 2018 will finally be his year to shine on the global on the global stage?
