ZZK Records presents QOQEQA's 'Xi', the 1st single from their upcoming various artist compilation ZZK Sound Vol. 4.

Formerly half of the Animal Chuki duo, Daniel Valle-Riestra has now established himself with his solo project QOQEQA. Hailing from Peru, Valle-Riestra successfully condenses this profound and mysterious track from his retreats into the jungle, dripping with the visions and revelations of a psychedelic experience.

The composition is a dance between light and darkness, as playful elements such as wood claves flit through the stereo field, contrasting with the melancholic song of the violins. Under these and the tensed-skin drums we hear the voices of an isolated Amazonian tribe, joyful at the reencounter with family members they believed dead.
 
Xi will be released on March 4th 2022 with accompanying music video.

ZZK Sound Vol. 4 is out on vinyl and all digital platforms May 20th 2022.

QOQEQA - Xi

The Last Buddha is a symbolic mini EP that represents the passage of the Lotus Sutra, where two luminous beings talk, and thus give a point of view on full enlightenment.

In the Buddhist concept, the bands represent status and lines of thought of two distinct boddhisattvas, both being Avalokiteshvara and Maitreya.

The last Buddha comes to remember that the end of the cycle is actually a new beginning.

Started by Kris Chali in 1978 in Choma, Amayenge is a popular Zambian music group. The musical style of the group is called kalindula, a distinctive Zambian popular style with traditional sub-Saharan african roots. Kalindula was originally played on banjos, ngoms drums, chisekele shakers and metal bells. Western guitars and percussion have slowly replaced the homemade banjos and drum sets used previously, but we can still hear in their music the raw groove and the energy of zambian music.
