Eyes Ahead continues his quest to conquer the bass music industry with this melodic bass original, appropriately titled "Adrift."  There is nobody else creating music quite like this, and Eyes Ahead (aka Scott Severs) is making a name for himself by impressing bassheads and metalheads alike, due to his flawless ability to combine elements of rock, metal, bass music, and Korean dance pop into his tunes.  Okay, maybe that last one was a bit of a stretch, but you can definitely feel his influences shine through with his euphoric guitar riffs, complex percussion patterns, and interstellar space basses.  

In the past few months, Severs has been revamping some of his old songs, utilizing new techniques and production tricks that he did not have in his arsenal when he produced the songs a few years back. These re-releases have all had monstrous success so far, and this is without a doubt his biggest tune to date.  Here's what he has to say about these re-releases: 

 "That's why I'm doing all these 2015 re-releases. I wrote a ton of songs when I first was getting into Ableton, and, at the time, my technical skills were lacking. So I'm going back and just beefing everything up.  The original 'Adrift' was the first full song I made after switching to Ableton. It was the first song that had that melodic bass/progressive rock feel, so it was definitely an accomplishment at the time. And now being able to re-approach it with a more developed skillset and knowledge of Ableton is refreshing."

"Refreshing" is a great way to describe this song, which features powerful melodies and masterful production.  "Adrift" begins with a beautiful guitar melody that eases the listener into a dense atmosphere of feels, reminiscent of a melancholy alternative rock song from the '90s.  A solid, serious drum beat comes in with a dark, yet smooth, bass that compliments the lead guitar perfectly and makes the listener feel as though they are flying through interstellar space.  It is at this point when the listener will really be taken for a ride, as the build-up intensifies and eventually drops into some distorted guitar and heavy bass elements, Eyes Ahead style.  Severs really lets the guitar shine through on this one, with upper octave riffs layering beautifully on top of the grime, creating quite an emotional journey for the listener.  This song is a prime example of where the bass music industry SHOULD be going, with complex progressions in beat structure, unique fusions of genres/styles, and just overall 'badassness' in musicianship.
