Wir freuen uns sehr, euch heute ein Live Special vorstellen zu können. MARIA Die RUHE hat in diesem gut durchdachten und recht druckvollen Set, neben einigen ausgewählten Tracks, viele ihrer eigenen Nummern verwendet und mit ihrer bezaubernden Stimme dem ganzen eine ganz eigene Note verliehen.

Interview:

Wie und wann bist du zur Elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Ich bin geboren in Jena, Thüringen, da hat mit Kassa, Muna und Freude am Tanzen elektronische Musik schon immer eine grosse Rolle gespielt. 
Als ich 2004 nach Berlin gezogen bin, war sie dann immer da - Clubs, Afterhours - ich hab ich mich endlich zu Hause gefühlt - wache, wilde, verrückte Menschen, so sein wie man wirklich ist, mit Fremden sprechen, neue Freunde finden, eine Nacht in der alles möglich ist. Frei sein, leben und tanzen, tanzen tanzen - als ob es kein Morgen gäbe. 
Ich hab damals Schauspiel studiert, war damit aber nicht glücklich. Dann auf einer Mini - Afterhour gab es ein vergessenes Mikrofon, das war mal Mittwoch morgens in Kreuzberg. Mit ein bisschen Mut und Spaß hat den Leuten das was ich damals improvisiert habe gefallen. Ob ich Sängerin sei, wurde ich gefragt, damals wusste ich noch gar nicht das das wirklich eine Option ist. Ich hatte einige Angebote Vocals für elektronische Künstler zu machen, das allein war mir aber einfach zu wenig und so habe ich mich entschlossen es ganz anzugehen - Jazz und aktuelle Musik studiert, im Hauptfach Gesang. Da war nicht merh viel mit Club, dafür Bandarbeit, freie Musik und Komposition. Die Nacht, meine wirkliche Liebe war während dieser Zeit im Hintergrund. Nach dem Abschluss wusste ich aber endlich 1000 % was ich will. Back to the roots, zurück zu dem was ich wirklich bin. Clubmusik.

 

Welche Musikalischen Momente sind dir besonders in Erinnerung geblieben?

Da gibt's viele - mindestens zwei waren sehr wichtig und wirken noch nach. 
Einmal noch im Jazzkontext nach einer freien Improvisation im Duo, das war nicht von dieser Welt. Der Moment wenn zwei eins werden und dann nur noch Musik sind. Dann vor dem Applaus zehn Sekunden Stille, das war groß.
Ein zweiter, erst im letzten Jahr in der Gruam, dieser unglaublich geilen Münchener mini location. Ein Typ mit einem verrückten Hut, tanzend auf der Bar, in voller Extase der mir zuruft: "Ich liebe dich dafür das du tust was du tust und vor allem wie du es tust". 
Da wusste ich, jetzt bin ich richtig.

Wo konnte man dich bisher antreffen?

In der Nacht, soviel ist sicher ;-) 
Ich lebe jetzt in Leipzig, hier gibt es viel Raum für neues - vor allem auf illegalen Parties hab ich viel gespielt. Fäncy ist hier eine super Crew, die unglaublich viel Liebe und das nötige Quäntchen Verrücktheit in ihre Veranstaltungen stecken. Das entspricht mir total, also wenn jemand mal die Gelegenheit habe sollte: Auf jeden Fall erleben! 
Dazu das Elipamanoke, ein sehr schöner Laden, natürlich Distillery, IFZ und So&So (da hab ich allerdings noch nicht gespielt). Gestern Function one sound im Kosmonaut in Berlin.

Gibt es Zukunftspläne?

Ich bin ich froh, dass ich mein System den Winter über auf Live umgestellt hab - jetzt machts so richtig Spaß und war ein wichtiger Schritt.
In den nächsten Monaten steht mindestens ein Release an - zuerst als Single mit Remixen. Label noch geheim. Auch ist angedacht das die Kooperationen in denen ich gerade arbeite veröffentlicht werden sollen, ist alles auf dem Weg. Davon sind einige auch im Podcast zu hören.
Material für ein erstes Album ist auch so gut wie fertig produziert, die Tracks spiele ich ja schon. Mal sehen wo das genau hin passt - erstmal fertig machen - ich stress mich damit nicht. Es findet schon alles seinen Platz - war mit mir ja auch so ;-)
Dieses Jahr stehen schon jetzt viele schöne Gigs auf den Festivals im Sommer an, das hat in jedem Fall Priorität - an schönen Orten für schöne Menschen schöne Musik spielen & leben!

MARIA Die RUHE | NachtEin.TagAus [Podcast 39] - Live Special

Nature is like music. It is everywhere and it is animating you to dance.

I created this piece of music for the “NachtnaTour” campaign by NABU. The track contains 36 fieldrecordings (one is still a secret) of native animal species you can hear during the night; from amphibians to birds to mammals. Thank you for sending me your nature recordings.
The narrative song starts with a beautiful sunset at a lake, moving forward into the deep forest and black night until the warming sunrise is waking up the songbirds again.

La nuova serie di podcasts targata Parkett "Internal Selection" dedica il suo spazio ad un musicista, pianista, compositore e produttore tedesco: Martin Kohlstedt. Intrapresa la sua carriera tramite percorsi differenti che lo hanno visto alla presa con il mondo della musica jazz, per film, elettronica e ancor più anche nella sfera delle media arts, oggi  Martin ci propone questa selezione dal carattere del tutto personale e piena di carica emotiva. 

Lui stesso ci scrive  "When I sit down at the piano I play a single, small theme in constant repetition and wait, slightly annoyed, for my head to finally stop actively trying to influence my music. It is constantly composing, pretending to know everything, trying to formulate crude musical statements and construct a finalized oeuvre — going down a forced path. In my adolescence I was a lot more mature in that aspect, more focused. I could immediately dive in with complete disregard for failure. I was moved by music that was not "thought through", that was not meticulously laid out — but by the one that just flowed, seemingly without control and focussing on just "letting it happen". I tried to achieve this on my new album "Strom".In my playlist I compiled pieces that, subconsciously, react with myself in this way.." 

Da segnalare, oltre al suo recentissimo nuovo disco "Strom" (2017), sono altre due le sue uscite che hanno già avuto modo di catturare l'attenzione nel panorama musicale a livello europeo: "Tag" (2012) e "Nacht" (2014) che hanno di seguito riportato importanti reinterpretazioni con artist come FM Belfast, Christian Löffler, Douglas Dare e Mathias Kaden. In collaborazione con Rough Trade, finetunes, Kick The Flame Music Publishing, ROBA Music Publishing e Broken Silence tutti i suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati sulla sua etichetta "Edition Kohlstedt".
