Aujourd'hui cofondateur d'Ablette Records, il continue de sélectionner et de créer des montagnes russes sonores à la fois puissantes et délicates. Dans cette fable, morceaux ambient et décalés, grooves dubby et basses brumeuses ont été son fil rouge.

Having spent the last 10 years regularly in front or behind the booth, Vighil has become no stranger to sound spaces. Today as a co-founder of the store Ablette Records, he continues to selects and create powerful yet delicate sonic roller coasters. In this fable, ambient, off-beat tracks, dubby grooves and hazy basses were his red thread.

Schemerzone #3 @ Operator Radio w/ Pim and Proper - 15th March 2023

Ayala is the moniker of Eora-based producer, Donovan Janks. 'Rainfruit', his debut EP in his own words "came together over 2019-2022, pulled together from the many threads of my production. Like many, I listen and love widely, and that always comes through in the music I write."

We're so pleased to be releasing such a touching & personal collection of songs, which have sat in the Lovejoy vault for some time.

This first track, 'Rainfruit/Kulnara (feat. Zac Picker)', is a piece by Ayala & his sometimes collaborator, sometimes poet, regularly close friend, Zac Picker. Featuring his poem 'Outgas', it's an ode to the textures of music we so often take for granted, with building intensity.

The cement never fully sets. Its

wet, still,

at its core— 

a fine dancing mesh, resonant and bubbling.

Outgassing.

How many feet can it take? How many seconds?

It vibrates, in the aftertempos, 

in the aftermorning leafcrunch,

in the outgassing, in the air breathed in, tonight. 

We put detectors on our ankles,

asking — gasping — for the gasses 

that seep from the concrete basements.

From the sublimation, from the sublime,

the vapor trails whispered into the steel beams and rotting rugs.

They go off, the detectors,

too loud to hear— 

a long high ringing,

always there around our ankles.

Their singing is a melting, an infusing,

an outgassing,

a fine dancing mesh. 

In the middle, 

in the middle,

in the long edges that pull ourselves up again

This one has been with me the longest as I remembered about the sketch called Fairytale from 2012 while working on the concept of the album. Over the years it transformed into what it is now: a reflection of how complex and powerful our minds can be. I like long conversations about life and mind with my friend Carl who has recorded amazing sax here.
