There’s something unbelievably gripping about DIANA. Their soundscapes along with the undeniably groovy sax and guitar combo align perfectly to create an incredible sonic experience. Carmen Elle’s understated vocal style compliments their dreamy aesthetic flawlessly. The vulnerability and emotion conveyed on a track like ‘New House’ is remarkably evocative, it creates an almost synergistic emotional response which is rare and truly special. The caliber of their musicianship is undeniable as they weave these landscapes of pop-fuelled, truly euphoric, tracks.
DIANA came into the studio before their set at the 2014 edition of Kazoo! Fest. I had listened to some of their tracks and heard people wax on about them but hadn’t caught the bug myself. It wasn’t long after they had finished putting together their impressive set-up and becoming completely engrossed in their session for all of us to fall head over heels for this band. The members all have impressive resumes (including The Hidden Cameras and Destroyer) but none of this matters as you let DIANA sweep you into a sweet, summery high, all romanticism and sunny days. Let DIANA take you out on a sonic date.
