I haven't felt good for 8-9 years now
I called one of my close friends when my problems started piling up
I said, "Listen, I haven't felt good for 8-9 years now"
He got angry all of a sudden, flared up
I'm guessing he bounced where he sat
He said, "Get up now. Come over"
I said, "Yeah I'll do that but I can't get there quickly
'Cause you know what, I haven't felt good for 8-9 years now"
"So be it" he said, "Come over even if it's late"
I went there slowly, taking my time
I said, "So, I'm here"
"What's wrong with you?" he asked me
I said "Like I told you, I haven't felt good for 8-9 years now"
"In that case," he said, "It's clear what we're gonna do with you"
He went to the kitchen, fetched a chopper from the drawer
He wrapped the chopper in his grandma's scarf
And then he put raw meat on top of it
Gave it to me
I said "What am I supposed to do with these?"
He said, "Go put these under your pillow
Open all the windows
Then do whatever the fuck you want
You'll get better"
I asked him, "Are you sure?"
He said, "I am"
I said, "Listen, I haven't felt good for 8-9 years now
How can this make it better?"
"I don't know" he said, "That's what I always do
And that's what I recommend to troubled people"

The music comes from Meredith Monk, Azimuth, Rainer Brüninghaus, Eberhard Weber, John Surman, Pat Metheny, Steve Tibbetts, Tamia & Pierre Favre, Codona, Nana Vasconcelos, Steve Eliovson, Veljo Tormis, Ketil Bjornstad, Don Cherry.

The artwork is taken from Maja Weber's cover design for Eberhard Weber's album "The Following Morning" 💚

ECM was founded by Manfred Eicher in Munich in 1969 and soon developed into a melting pot of interesting musical fusions. Jazz, folk, classical music, various African, Asian, South American and European sound idioms, minimalism, ambient, avant-garde and electronic music came together in the ECM cosmos. Artists such as Don Cherry, Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Jon Hassell, Eberhard Weber, Carla Bley, Keith Jarrett and Arvo Pärtt have found a home there.

Mood swings happen on a daily basis. Uncertainty is sitting deeply in all of us. What is happening? Where will this lead? Is there an end in sight?

We're no psychics either, but in times like these something everyone should do is to keep the spirits up for themselves and those around them.
And so we set out and forged something, that's rather different from our usual output, but yet wholesome and our equivalent of a bag of warm and loving hugs. Without the fear of getting infected with some kind of virus of course.

A new story in our ever growing book of slowness is coming to fruition and now is the time to present its first chapter.
