Heavenly Engine (Demo Excerpt)

My Tjau is Kapow was an experimental electronic post-rock band hailing from the underground scene of Odense, Denmark. The lineup included Jens Christiansen (drums, synths), Nikolaj Bruus (guitar, synths), Alexander Jørgensen (bass, synths), Tobias Frank (mixing, synths), and Carl Emil Brønnum (beats, synths), among others. Combining an indie rock–inspired organic universe - acoustic drums, electric guitars, bass, and analog synths - with synthetic electronic glitch, beats, and loops, My Tjau is Kapow falls somewhere between IDM, shoegaze, post-rock, and indie electronica. Inspired by the likes of Seefeel, Tortoise, Manual, and Autechre, MTIK delivered a sublime, euphoric sound that made you want to dance and cry at the same time.

Primarily active between 2009–2013, and again from 2015–2017, PCC are now happy to retrospectively present My Tjau is Kapow’s lost debut EP, “The Pink Sea” - the first (and likely only) archival material from MTIK. MTIK began when Nikolaj (Quiet Sonia) and Carl Emil (Carlis) met at a young age, trying to combine Nikolaj’s background in shoegaze and post-rock with Carl Emil’s newly acquired skills in DAW-based glitch and beats. As time passed, Carl Emil began focusing more on his solo project, but Nikolaj carried on MTIK, now more heavily involving Jens (Quiet Sonia), Alexander (Sunn Paw), and later Tobias (Sunn Paw).

The six tracks on “The Pink Sea” have gone through many changes over the years, constantly evolving with new sounds, shapes, and forms: bubbly analog synths, pulsating dance beats, and deep, funky acoustic basslines; oceans of intertwined melodies, swirling organs, and charming early-to-mid '00s glitch. This release is a sort of compilation, hand-picking the best material that wasn’t lost over the years. MTIK wishes you a happy listen - and perhaps, hopefully, we’ll hear more from MTIK in the future!
