Rude 66 dusted off some of his vintage digital samplers and came up with probably one of the most anomalous releases of his discography. In these tracks you can hear influences of early 90s Meat Beat Manifesto and Coil weaving with the typical West-coast vocoder and synths, making “Fragmented Living” sound like it could have been produced anytime from the early days of industrial music to a few decades ahead from now.

Bertram debuts on Dutch cult label Pinkman Records. Fueled by nostalgia, 'Lights Out' aims to execute industrial old school dancehall and dub within a raw electronics framework. It combines old drum machines, vintage synths, acid bass lines, Sherman-laced vocals by Bertram and the people in his life, and clever approaches to the creative process and production. Opening in typically thunderous fashion, the overdriven kick of A1’s aptly-named Laying It On Thick sets a tone that doesn’t relent for the duration of the record. No-nonsense and straight to the action, Adam X’s distinct approach to crafting dancefloor hits shines throughout as multiple 303 refrains weave through stripped back drum patterns for unforgettably hypnotic results.

While A2’s Trailing Effect drops the tempo a couple of notches, its head-scrambling acid psychedelia would take any bustling dancefloor on a trip long into the early hours. The three remaining tracks give no let-up, fostering a frenetic energy that just can’t be contained.

Following up his anthemic late-summer burner, Hope, Credit 00 returns to Pinkman to deliver the album Midnightlife Crisis. Hopping between genres whilst remaining resolutely coherent, the twelve-track LP is a showcase of the Rat Life boss’ many influences.

From the driving, mesmeric techno of Music Is A Spiritual Thing to the sci-fi electro on Bouncing Bell and Love Warrior’s downtempo, half-time shuffle, the collection of tracks is broad and varied yet simultaneously unified by belonging to the club.

Whether it’s warm-up material, peaktime rollers or afterhours sludge for tired legs and scrambled heads, there’s something for every scenario on Midnightlife Crisis.

And with recurring themes of melancholy and anxiety throughout, the album perhaps reflects that all too familiar period for every club enthusiast when the years are ticking by and the lights are coming on.

“I just hope there’s hope”, sings the voice on the album’s lead single, before reminding us that the dancefloor’s sweet release is often the best remedy to these negative thoughts - “I see you shaking on the floor, that gives me hope, gives me hope.”

After gracing sublabel Charlois three times over the years, Timothy J. Fairplay finally lands on Pinkman with ‘Convictions That Stick’, furthering his sonic excursions into raw, jacking, yet evocative house music. ‘Convictions’ rattles through drum-machine workouts topped with soaring synthlines, inviting you to spiral in the club's darkest corners. Between the shuffled claps, ominous melodics and delay-laden syncopation, 'Convictions' playfully evokes both the mechanical exploration of urban space, and the claustrophobic intimacies encountered within it. There's even a nod towards 1980s’ cult cinema hit 'The Bronx Warriors' at the end. Naturally, these six tracks find a perfect home on Pinkman.

Identified Patient debuts on Pinkman with a brimming 12" of claustrophobia and paranoia. Acrid acid lines have been boiled down and smeared across cranking percussion. Sired in a soup of static, a blackened groove stalks the entire EP. Dusty beats are rinsed in smelting liquor, a smouldering EBM undercurrent surfacing as the noose tightens to a close.
