Boys' Shorts are a Greek dj/production duo, consisting of Vangelis (formerly of LAGASTA) and electronic recording artist Tareq.

Their sound is a blend of everything they love to mix in their DJ sets - from House to slow techno and from disco to acid. To quote the boys “We make people dance!”
They’ve released on labels HE.SHE.THEY, Cormac’s Polari Records, Permanent Vacation, Future Disco, Iptamenos Discos and Love Child.

They’ve also delivered remixes for Alison Goldfrapp, Yuksek w/ Polo & Pan, Kasper Bjorke, Boy George, Local Suicide w/ Lena Platonos, Daddy Squad w/ Zoot Woman, Casey Spooner (Fischerspooner), Mala Ika, and Kito Jempere ft. Wolfram, to name a few.

Their track “New Era” reached No1 on both Beatport and the Juno Download chart, as well as being hot listed on Germany’s Radio Eins, and their track "Fantastic" received support from BBC Radio 1.

The last couple of years has seen them tour around Europe, playing in world renowned venues such Berghain/Panorama bar and London’s E1, while also bringing their unique sound to festivals like"Lost Village" and WECANDANCE. Building on their success the boys have also enjoyed playing at New York’s Le Bain, Good Room, and House of YES, as well as opening for Hot Chip’s concert at the Knockdown Center.

The inspiration to this EP comes from Chris’ home town Rostock, Germany located at the Baltic Sea which injects nostalgic and melancholic feel to the tracks.

For our 56th episode of FRiends and Family, we have @threehz , who is no newcomer to NYC underground arts. They run the @no_dawn monthly show on @thelotradio , have played many parties alongside New York movers and shakers @lycheefrut @tiffwanee @tomsobolikmusic and @nathanielyoung as well as global heavy hitters like @polygonia and @rrose1921 . They are a serious musician, and it shows when they DJ.

It is based off a set originally performed during yoga with Yaya Flows at Antidote in Brooklyn, NY. It's blissful, dubby, and lush. A perfect end to the rush of the summer. Do enjoy....

Electric Island ist ohne jeden Zweifel eine der prägendsten Leipziger Partyreihen für Techno und House der Nuller und Zehner Jahre. Als am 10. Dezember 2004 die erste Ausgabe stattfand, war das keineswegs vorauszuschauen. Das Conne Island war zu diesem Zeitpunkt kaum noch in touch mit elektronischer Musik, nachdem es in den Neunzigern viele wegweisende Partys gab. Doch die DIY-Leichtigkeit und der kleine Rahmen mit ausschließlich lokal besetzten Line-ups von Electric Island traf schnell einen Nerv in der Stadt. "Nothing can come close to this familiar feeling", beschrieb schon damals sehr treffend den irgendwie intimen und angenehm pulsierenden Vibe dieser jungen Reihe.

Später öffnete sich Electric Island immer mehr für internationale Bookings öffnete und holte tatsächlich viele wichtige, stilprägende Acts nach Leipzig – Scuba, Efdemin, Lawrence, Alex Smoke, Margaret Dygas, Redshape, Shinedoe, Roman Flügel und Helena Hauff. Auf der Conne-Island-Website lassen sich alle Partys der letzten 20 Jahre noch einmal nachlesen – mit jeder Menge Nostalgie für alle, die in dieser Zeit selbst öft dort Gast waren. In den letzten Jahren ist es ruhiger um die Reihe geworden. Die Leipziger Clubkultur hat sich weiterentwickelt und auch im Island rückte das Thema elektronische Musik erstmal in den Hintergrund. Sicher auch, weil der Hype um Electric Island mit einigen Herausforderungen einher ging.

Über ein paar dieser Entwicklungen und Themen sprechen Neele und Max vom aktuellen Orga- und Booking-Team des Electric Island in unserem Hey-Hey-Podcast. In einer kompakten halben Stunden schauen sie zurück und erzählen, was euch bei der großen 20-Jahre-Party am 14. und 15. März erwarten wird. Viel Spaß beim Hören.
