What Difference Does It Make

Here I'm using the PC-2A tube compressor to record my Strat guitar direct to computer sound capture card. The PC-2A is running flat-out ('Peak Reduction' and 'Gain' knobs fully clockwise) in 'Limit' mode. Reverb is added on the digital audio workstation using the incredible Valhalla VintageVerb VST plugin. I cannot say enough good things about these reverbs - they are incredibly deep. lush, sweet and so smooth sounding - way beyond expectations. 'Decay' is set as 25 to 30 seconds and 'Mix' at about 75%. It can do more, but I think this is ambient enough!

All percussive and synth-like sounds are made using a Fender Strat recorded direct to computer via the PC-2A compressor. 4 tracks are used in total including one for the bass which was also recorded direct through the PC-2A.

Ambient Guitar Swells

Here I’m using the Tube Drive on my Fender Strat to add sustain and drive for solo work. The Strat is fitted with ‘Kent Armstrong’ single coil pickups. The tone of these pickups is the perfect iconic ‘Strat sound’ but the output is not terribly strong. The Tube Drive helps give them that extra body and punch they need for soloing. The backing track is an old recording from the early 1980s (recorded on DAT) by the band ‘Kybalion’ in which my friend Phil Shiell played bass guitar. The strat solo was recorded direct to computer using Death Valley 15SSSN (15′ guitar cable) and 6IAAN (6″ patch cables) terminated in G&H nickel-plated jack plugs. The following VST plugins were used post recording: Valhalla ‘Room’ reverb; Torpedo CAB speaker emulation and Kuassa BasiQ Baxandall Simulation Equalizer. Ferric Tape Dynamics Simulator was used to help the newly recorded guitar solo blend in and sit better with the old DAT recording.

80′s lead Strat solo

Fender Precision bass recorded direct to computer via the PC-2A tube compressor. Here I'm using the PC-2A in 'Limit' mode to tame transients made when twanging the bass guitar strings. The PC-2A is an invaluable tool for helping capture guitars when recording direct. It also adds some depth and richness to the tone.

Pink’s One arose in 2010 from the idea of Alessandro Di Mauro. The band consists of 9 members and it plays the most important and emotional songs from the massive Pink Floyd’s discography, concentrating in one breathtaking sound and light show half a century of Music History, from “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn” to “The Endless River”.
The careful sound selection, the attention for the arrangements, the versatility and the completeness of the group, together with the professional experience gained throughout the years, are the facts that make Pink’s One the most considerable Pink Floyd tribute band in Sicily, as well as one of the most appreciated in the wide italian musical scene.
In summer 2014, the band boasted the precious collaboration with Margaret “Machan” Taylor, one of Pink Floyd’s backing-vocalists during “A Momentary Lapse of Reason” world tour (1987-1988), playing shows in the most important sicilian squares.
Tv and radio special appearances have been copious all over the years: among all these, the most important definitely took place in May 2015, for the tv show “Insieme”, broadcasted on Antenna Sicilia channel.
In november 2016, in homage to the 45th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s  “Live at Pompeii”, the band releases a live performance of “Echoes” suite in the form of a short film, set in the unique scenario of Syracuse’s Greek Theatre: “Echoes at Teatro Greco”was chosen as the name of the everlasting event. 
In 2017, by linking the passion for Pink Floyd with a pronounced care for Sicily (where Pink’s One used to play), the band achieves a celebratory videoclip for the A Momentary Lapse of Reason’s 30th anniversary, performing the song Learning To Fly. An instrumental version of the track has been chosen as part of the original soundtrack of an American movie that is going to be released at the end of 2018.
