As ever with the Hell Yeah crew, there is an interesting back-story to the label’s next release, the ambitiously titled Coast to Coast EP. Firstly, the title refers to the fact that Justin VanDerVolgen hails from the east and Doc Martin the west coast of America, but that’s not all…

The label boss first heard Alexander Robotnick’s Undicidisco*track in a set by Golf Channel associate *Justin Vandervolgen. He went to ask what it was and turns out the track had only been released digitally. Keen to give it the full release it deserved on wax, he fully licensed it and got a remix from the man who first played it, as presented here. So far it’s done well, with Running Back boss Gerd Janson playing it recently at P-Bar – of, course it went down a storm... and Beats In Space's Tim Sweeney shouting "This is the Jam"... wow

The track itself is seven minutes of playfully droning bass synths and boom-bap percussion. It’s alive with darting synth tweaks and twitches and races through outer space at an inviting pace, radiating good time vibes from start to finish.

It’s a similar story with the flip – Hell Yeah’s Marco heard one of his (and dance music in general) heroes, Doc Martin, playing the Florian Meindl's bass driven original mix and immediately wanted to give it a full release, but not before asking Doc for a remix.

That remix is released here and is a heavyweight, shuffling bit of house funk with a tight, knotted and tumbling bass refrain propping up soaring diva vocals and grainy, infectious claps. It’s a wavy and hugely inviting groove that has plenty of lip-curling attitude to it.

A fine release with a great backstory that comes complete with great vinyl artwork designed by Andrea Amaducci, this Coast to Coast EP is yet another fine weapon in the Hell Yeah cannon.

According to the story:
The boy suddenly loses his love at the shore.
He goes to the sea every day and keeps looking for her, but unfortunately he doesn't find her, because his girlfriend drowned into the water and he couldn't be there to save her life.
Although the girl tries to give signs that she is still there with him in spirit - as she appears sometimes on the shore and at other places - she feels good mostly in the water and finally flies up to heaven...

Secondo la storia:
Il ragazzo perde improvvisamente il suo amore in riva al mare.
Lui va al mare ogni giorno e cerca di trovare la sua fidanzata, ma non la trova perché lei è affogata nell'acqua e lui non era lì per poter salvarle la vita.
Anche se la ragazza cerca di dare segni che lei è ancora là con lui in spirito, apparendo a volte in riva del mare e in altri luoghi, si sente bene nell'acqua e alla fine va in paradiso...

A történet szerint: 
A fiú egy nap elvesztette a párját a tengerpartnál.
Szinte mindennap kimegy a tengerhez keresni őt, de sajnos nem találja, mert azon a szomorú napon a barátnője a vízbe fulladt, és ő akkor nem volt ott, hogy segíthessen.
Ugyan a lány próbál jeleket adni, hogy még lélekben itt van vele, mert néha megjelenik a parton és egyéb helyeken, de leginkább a vízben érzi jól magát, míg végül elindul felfelé a mennyei úton...

Mflex - Robot Dance (Check out this video!)

This track is a brief demo of some longer sequencer workout I created on New Year's Day 2015. Basically, it is two Oberheim SEMs controlled by two ARP Sequencers, multitracked onto eight-track using a clicktrack and a Friendchip SRC Synchronizer for overdubbing. The eight tracks were mixed down to stereo while additional sequencers were also tied into the mix. Apart from some delay,  reverb, and Dimension D simulation (Roland 330 series), no effects were added. The ratcheting was also done using two ARP Sequencers in conjunction.

I can't help thinking what a beautiful-sounding and extremely useful little synthesiser the Oberheim SEM is -- hats off to Tom Oberheim!

"For me, Jean-Michel Jarre is one of the founding fathers of electronic music. His music has always been sonically and musically creative, so when I first heard his music as kid it was one of the main things that inspired me to want to make electronic music. Jarre also created the big show format for an electronic performer. 

I recall first discovering Tangerine Dream via the soundtrack to "Risky Business" and was very sad to hear of Edgar Froese's recent passing. 

It was an honour to work with these two legends of electronica on our remix of “Zero Gravity" - the idea was to draw on the early influences from their music combined with ideas from the track itself, and then inject some Above & Beyond into the mix."
