Arp Sequencer

This track is a brief demo of some longer sequencer workout I created on New Year's Day 2015. Basically, it is two Oberheim SEMs controlled by two ARP Sequencers, multitracked onto eight-track using a clicktrack and a Friendchip SRC Synchronizer for overdubbing. The eight tracks were mixed down to stereo while additional sequencers were also tied into the mix. Apart from some delay,  reverb, and Dimension D simulation (Roland 330 series), no effects were added. The ratcheting was also done using two ARP Sequencers in conjunction.

I can't help thinking what a beautiful-sounding and extremely useful little synthesiser the Oberheim SEM is -- hats off to Tom Oberheim!

Eighties lounge pad Miami sound with (in order of appearance) Volca Keys (bass), Volca Bass, Korg Radias (some drums), Yamaha MU90r (Oberheimy stabs), Nord Drum (kick and Simmons snare), Korg X5dr (echo lead), EMU XL1 (bell wave), Roland MKS30 (fifth stabs), Waldorf Streichfett (strings & harpsichord), DSI Evolver (Moog-lead). Kick was processed through an old Boss compressor pedal, more smudge from a Yamaha R100 multi fx.

Die Wilde Jagd (The Wild Hunt) is a joint project of Ralf Beck and Sebastian Lee Philipp, named after an ancient Germanic myth. Beck is a musician and producer from Düsseldorf. He has released several albums as part of the duo Nalin & Kane, as well as under the name Unit 4. Philipp is part of the Berlin-based electro-wave duo Noblesse Oblige. They joined forces after meeting in D&uuml;sseldorf's club Salon des Amateurs. It seems no coincidence that Düsseldorf is the duo’s founding city: their music is full of subtle references to local acts, such as Kraftwerk, NEU!, DAF, Liaisons Dangereuses, Pyrolator, the Krupps and Propaganda. Using numerous analog keyboards and recording devices, and combining them with a diverse range of percussion instruments, they create their own “hunting music”, which at times sounds unsettling, like swampland or a dark forest, but also urgent and pressing, like incandescent lasers or a hypnotic dance. Doepfer A-196 PLL demo.
Patch: Pulse of master oscillator into in 2 (signal in) of PLL and into mixer. Pulse out of PLL into mixer. Mixer into recorder. Master oscillator sequenced by A-155
Only the Pll settings are changed.
First you just hear the master oscillator, then I turn up the level of the PLL and you can hear both oscillators. The PLL oscillator tries to track the master and this gives timbre changes.
There are 3 building bloks in the PLL. 1 is the oscillator with 2 controls for pitch. One pot for fine control and a switch for low mid and high frequencies. The second is a slew limmiter, with cutoff frequency. And last the comperator with 3 different flavours.
