Trumpet solo on "Latin Satin" (by Jamie Rhind)

Recently I found the work of a fantastic trumpet player and composer here on SoundCloud: Vivek Patel https://soundcloud.com/vivek-patel. It was always my wish to have a truly great trumpet player on one of my flamencoated tracks, for one because trumpet is one of my favorite instruments in it's sound, dynamic range and voice-like expression. Secondly, Jazz is one of the musical styles I love, in which I always was most exited about the trumpet solos. 

To increase the excitement I also asked my SC buddy, the great fretless bassplayer Mirko Borach https://soundcloud.com/stringburner to join in the fun, who always brings such a thrilling drive to the music and such rich tone.

This one is as I call it a flamencoated track which blends several styles. From flamenco to Jazz, some Middle Eastern motives and a touch of orchestral strings background. This one is a tribute to Michael Brecker's great Two Blocks from the Edge, which I've always loved for it's dark atmosphere. The ones familiar with Brecker's work and catalogue will recognize some of the themes in this one.

I am happy to present this unusual track with an eerie atmosphere and crossover quality: Close to the Edge.

Piotrek is a Jazz Vocalist, Composer and Arranger.
Born in Pulawy, Poland, he currently resides in Boston, MA.
Piotrek chose to focus on Jazz music specifically, because he has always been extremely passionate about this style of music. He feels that it continually inspires him to reach deep within his soul for interpretation, and gives him a tremendous amount of joy, particularly the improvisation element within Jazz, which consistently challenges him. It connects the mind, body and soul.


Piotrek’s recent compositions are especially influenced by the warm and fascinating rhythms of Afro-Cuban music, Samba and Bossa Nova. 
His speciality - Jazz Ballads.
He has had the pleasure of establishing firm artistic bonds with great musicians, such as Uziel Colon, Freddie Burgos, Roshan Rozman , Vadim Neselovski, Hogyu Hwang, Lee Fish, with whom he has worked with on a great number of recordings and recitals.
The above influences are the outcome of a natural process of his interaction with various musicians around the world who bridge the gap between two completely diverse musical worlds: one of Modern Jazz and the other, the fascinating world of Afro-Cuban music (Salsa). This interaction has fuelled his imagination and brought him immense pleasure, both as a performer and a composer.
As a direct result, in 2010 Piotrek also became a Salsa Dance Instructor.  
He plays both piano and bass and is a former French Horn player with 10 years of training behind him.
