Ansjowvis | Groovy Berlin Techno DJ Set @ club TURN

Hailing from Talinn and one of the co-head honcho's of Plastik Record Store is mrt, who came through with a floor burning mix of psytrance, minimal progressive groovers and deeply layered techno to knockout your sense of time and create what he called 'millenium era trance'.

The theme of the first episode of Water Tower Ollie is identity. Born to Dutch and Colombian parents and a lifetime of struggling between those two cultural identities, Ansjowvis dives into the music representing her heritage. The set only consists of producers and labels from Rotterdam and Colombia, creating a raw and more dark sound representing different and deeper parts of Ansjowvis' identity.

Episode 4 explores the 'Emotional Journey' of Ansjowvis. What happens when you let loose and have no external pressure or expectations? The music will speak for itself. Come on this ride through the sounds of electro, techno, and psytrance. The mix builds up in tempo and is in typical Ansjowvis style percussion driven with heavy basslines and a hypnotic touch.

Based on Holland’s West Coast, JEANS emerged from The Hague’s hardcore and jungle scene with a love for raw 90’s Hip Hop, dub, and Raggamuffin. Soon he would delve into new styles such as garage, techno, breakbeat, goa, and electro, but as you can hear throughout this mix, what makes JEANS so uniquely raw, is his the way he stays true to his roots. 

Alongside his exceptional record collection, JEANS has a refreshing willingness to challenge and push the limits of a crowd. This soon gained him widespread praise, and has seen him take on a residency at Het Magazijn, and the role of head booker at both Whoosah and PIP. 

In 2018 JEANS' breakout EP ‘LUL GEEN KALMTE’ on Who’s Susan lit up clubs and sunny festivals alike. Recently we have also been graced with JEANS' addition to a recent Who's Susan VA, alongside a brilliant EP with Younger Than Me on Bar Records. 

Through this hour and a half long mix, JEANS does what he is known to do best. Seamlessly guiding us through the genres that are driving him to wreak havoc on dancefloors and inspire some truly incredible releases.

People & Places 016: JEANS

Ansjowvis is a Rotterdam based DJ known for her high energy and genre fluid style. Switching it up between ghetto house, ghettotech, trance, bubbling, and trippy tribal sounds, she motivates the crowd to move their body and shake some ass on the dancefloor. 

Outside of the club, she tells a story aiming to being the listener along on a journey. Hosting her own show Verstrooid at PIP radio, she will be inviting DJ’s to research a certain theme and make a thought-out set regarding the theme. 

Next to DJing, Ansjowvis is booker and co-owner of STRO agency (Rotterdam), vinyl collector, working as a freelancer for different events (Hard Attack, Paardenrave) and overall is heavily involved within the techno scene.
