Mabel is a rising talent from Naarm's vibrant electronic music scene, carving a signature sound in psychedelia, wrapped up in hard and fast rhythms and stamped with a femme touch. Inspired by minimal psytrance and progressive house elements, Mabel's back catalogue includes EPs and V/A contributions on The Space Between Us, Espace Noir, Daisy Records and many more. As a DJ, Mabel is established in her local scene, playing across Melbourne, including spaces 524 Flinders, Sub Club and The Gasometer Hotel. This summer, Mabel will make her London debut in Corsica Studios, DJing alongside Spray and Guy Contact for the city's fabled party, Origins.

Mabel titles each track after a hybrid animal, hence the EP's name Hybrid, aligning the release with Nehza's vision of telling stories about nature through electronic music. With this in mind, Mabel conjures impressions of forest and beachside raves, dancing with creatures that lurk just beneath.

Opening with an ethereal allure and combining rhythmic pulses and melodic waves: Marott's masterful production skill is evident. "Trang" pulsates with an infectious energy, inviting the listener to surrender to its hypnotic cadence. Spray retires the eponymously, to instead seek Punctuality; a new label for ‘dastard club elegies in the dark’ hosted by the maestro himself. Blu:sh clocks in to provide the imprint’s inaugural extended player with U is for U and me, a pentagonal suite of nocturnal seductions for ‘U’, our dear listener, from ‘he’, its rosy-cheeked conductor.

B is for Blu:sh (sometimes Benoit B and Terra Utopia), a froward node in the artist’s trilateral soul whose previous charm offensives for Roza Terenzi’s Step Ball Chain and Rey Colino’s Kalahari Oyster Cult under the alias signalled the arrival of a new challenger to the ‘hits parade’. U is for U and me provides distinct variations on the theme of ‘club allure’, five tracks of sparkling body music that captivate in its relentless drive for kinetic salvation.

AM PM strikes first more night than day, its throbbing bass line locks shoulders with precision rhythms within its psychedelic landscape. Whirlwind Mindsets is sassier, opting for more bump while the track’s aural mesh is grazed by sharp textures of live wires and melodious bleeps.

Magnetized Your Soul soundtracks the self-actualisation of sonic sophistication, applying the rave pressure with a current of discordant pads and haunted vocals bound by twisted attraction. Pixelated Pleasure Dome is pure sleaze, a wiggle-fested romp of leering subs and thunderous groove of pure self-indulgence. High In Cloud City offers the finale of heads-down speedy exuberance with faint breaks and non-stomp pump right up until curtain call.

Berlin’s Hypersoft collective kick off their new label with a 15-track VA raising
funds for trans youth and a launch party at OHM.

The collective, run by Berlin and London-based DJs TPR and DJ TEETH, emerged onto the scene in 2022 and is known for balancing breakthrough and established artists from the new school of the progressive landscape with legends and innovators of the scene, a resident lineup that includes Cromby, Bambi and Bliss Inc. and guests ranging from Sunju Hargun and Spekki Webu to nd_baumecker and Jane Fitz.

Their first release as a label follows the same principle: Adam Pits, Angel D’lite,
Bliss Inc., Cromby, D. Tiffany & Dugong, DJ TEETH, Desire, Dylan Forbes, E-Talking, Eoin DJ, Frederik Tollund, Inner Zone, Kasper Marott, Lisene and Running Hot all contribute to a VA that represents the nexus point where multiple axes of the current club landscape converge.
